db: This Wifi adapter was always somewhat flakey, especially when the computer came out of sleep or was first powered on.
Several times a week the adapter would go into a loop where it would identify the wireless network and connect to it, but could not or would not acquire an IP. The device would then disconnect from the network and start the cycle again. None of my other devices have any problem with my AP, and I was willing to deal with it since the machine I was using it on is a win8 machine and I couldn't be sure it was the hardware and not the dodgy OS. Getting the correct drivers installed was also a chore.

After 11 months of use, in the middle of regular browsing, the wireless adapter quit working altogether. When plugged into any of my machines it now fails to light up or to be recognized as a device.

I switched it out for a tp-link that cost $10 more and is stable, faster, and has better signal strength.

Randy G: I have used a number of wifi adapters on my PC over the years, and this one works the best by far. Arrived in perfect shape, and once I installed the drivers and restarted my machine, I was getting speeds of 2Mbps+ over the wifi, which is pretty good for my home setup. Definitely would recommend this over products without an antenna, it seems to make a large difference. The manual was easy to understand, and contained good tips like using the USB ports on the back for making the connection faster. At first I couldn't find the driver disk inside the package, but it was tucked inside the cardboard for the label to protect it. Overall, a quality product and worth every star. They even sent me an email when it was delivered to check on how it was working for me.

Isghj: Works well after driver setup annoyance.

The drivers that are linked for linux do not work on newer linux kernels because they depend an outdated API on older kernels. For Ubuntu 18.04 I found drivers on github, google "cilynx rtl88x2BU" , then follow the link for the newer version under "Newer version available!" (cannot link through amazon reviews). This driver is even easy to build and install, sometimes free drivers/software is a pain to install but they included the exact instructions you need to install on a basic install, no assumptions of previous knowledge if you can copy paste you're good to go. The driver works well for 5ghz but haven't bothered testing 2.4ghz since I don't really use it.

Edit2: the bug I posted below hasn't shown in months, I think it was a driver issue that got fixed. No issues remain.

Edit: there is one weird bug, not sure if driver, hardware, or linux is the cause, but sometimes in linux the wifi just goes down and won't come up, happens maybe once per three weeks. Reseating/cycling the usb connection fixes it though, and it's infrequent enough I haven't bothered trying to find the real cause of the issue.

pobunnypobunny: I bought two of these Blueshadow USB WiFi adapters to replace my older adapters which over the years bogged down to a crawl or underperformed.

I installed one Blueshadow to add WiFi ability to my HP desktop and installed another on an aging Lenovo laptop. Both run Windows 10 Home version 1803. I used the installation disc that came with the adapter.

I am paying my internet service provider for 100Mbps down/10Mbps up.

Very impressed with the two Blueshadow adapters.

On my HP desktop, my old adapter was only at 65Mpbs down/2Mbps up. After installing the Blueshadow adapter, my WiFi speed improved to 116Mbps down, 11+ Mbps up.

Over to the Lenovo laptop where my old adapter was only getting about 6-7 Mbps down and 20+ Mbps up. After removing the old adapter and installing the Blueshadow adapter my WiFi speed improved to 116Mbps down/11+ Mbps up. And I didn’t even screw on the antenna!

On my Lenovo laptop I noticed my new Blueshadow WiFi adapter’s “status” window showed a speed of 867.0 Mbps. Before, it was only 72 Mbps with the old adapter.

Now, this is interesting because my new WiFi adapters are...

Never pay retail: So far so good, once I was able to get it installed, that is. The driver link they provided did not work for me. I navigated through the files and downloaded just the setup.exe file. It just kept saying it did not support "this operation system". You know you're in trouble when the error message is in broken English. Maybe I was supposed to save that whole file to the laptop rather than just launch the setup.exe file? Anyway, I decided to paste the full install file off the mini CD from a computer that had a CD drive over a remote connection to the laptop I wanted to use the adapter on and then I was able to complete the install. Now I have a list of all the wifi networks the built in adapter can detect plus another list under wi fi 1 of all the wireless connections the external adapter can see. The built in is just 2.4 so having the 5 G is already an advantage. Speeds seem better and the conection seems solid, but I plan to test it another week before I buy more for all the rest of our laptops. And I will bring an external CD drive to do the install!
