Heidig: Took a month and a half to get here. No response from seller when I voiced concern on the outside due date and they hadn’t shown. Poor customer service In my eyes. They do appear to work once you scrape off the coating on the rods. Small spark you’d need something more flammable than just tinder and twigs. If not in a hurry and just need something just in case and have super flammable tinder it will probably be fine. It’s cheap, small and lightweight and a three pack.

adam andrzejczak: I had little to no expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. The package arrived earlier than the projected month-long ETA, which was sold from Kyrgyzstan, so that alone was far better than my usual experience from far-off sellers. As for the product, these little things can throw excellent sparks....though the one i was using had the flint pop off the little plastic handle within 20 or so strikes. A little superglue and some gentle, precise tapping from a hammer was enough to fix that, though I'm not counting that fix as a mark against the product; these three things cost me $2, I count that as an expected part of the cheap price. I don't feel that flint and steel should cost the better part of ten bucks, so these are fine. Heck, even if the thing broke on me and I didn't have an easy fix, I could make a handle out of duct tape, or hold the flint with some leatherman-style pliers. You get the idea.

John: Throws good sparks. The handle is sufficient. The only thing I will upgrade it the string connecting the rod to the striker. The string seems flimsy and I will switch it to paracord just as a personal preference.

David J. Vollmer: Item is small! Never could get it to produce a spark. The thick paint on the 'striker' probably doesn't help.
