Atomic Ned: I had to cut a hole in my granite counter top for a soap dispenser. These were recommended in a YouTube video. I can't believe how easily it went through the granite. Only problem I had was my countertop is about 1/8" thicker than then the cup so I couldn't get the bit all the way through. Luckily the set comes with several size bits. Once I got mostly through, I just used one of the smaller bits to chisel away the top. Once I carved off enough I was able to sink the full size bit I started with all the way through. Couldn't recommend more if you need a one time solution.

David: I needed to cut one hole through my granite countertop to put in a soap dispenser. The saw I used made it through just fine, but grabbed at the end and actually bent the shank. They do work, I just wouldn't buy them for more than a single use per saw. To cut one hole, worth the money.

eddieeddie: These just arrived and I immediately put them to use. I needed to drill a 40mm hole for electrical conduit in a terracotta block. I used an off-brand 12 volt li-ion drill running slow and supplied lots of cooling water with a little watering can. I stopped several times to dip the bit in water and it still took less than ten minutes. Worked like a charm and the bit feels like it still has almost all of it's grit on it.

The block was 7/8 inch thick. The description says the max is 1/2 inch but the holes in the side of the bit allowed water to get inside the bit and into the cutting area just fine. I did pull it out more frequently and flushed the debris from the hole with water as it got deeper than 1/2 inch, though.

Edit: When I drilled the hole in the other side of that block I had to do so from inside a cramped crawlspace where I had limited space and was unable to use the watering can. i had to use a very small container to dump the water (It was impossible to apply a steady stream of water). I tried to somewhat make up for that by dipping the bit in water every ten seconds or so to cool it.

NS: I used them to drill porcelain tiles, each bit drilled through very fast the first time, slower the second time but worked well too. I had problem to drill on the third time, I guess the drill was already dull. I used three of the largest drills, so I could only make 6 holes total. But since I just need to make 6 holes they are fine to throw away! They already served the purpose. If you want to make more than 2 holes on porcelain tiles then for each size you need to buy more sets, they are not expensive anyway. I guess these bits were not designed to last long with thick porcelain tiles, as is with my metal grinders (I was able to cut just about 8 porcelains size 12x24 with for each my $15 metal grinder disk). Porcelain tiles are known to be hard to cut/drill.

Rikardo: I needed to drill a hole on a Bath/Shower wall that had tile on it to pass a shower head pipe for a new replacement. The price for a single bit was priced way, way above than the price of this kit. The problem with these bits are that it doesn't have a center pin so it tended to wiggle and scratch the surface. I set it for the highest speed on the drill about a quarter of inch above the planned target then I switch on the drill and quicky push as hard as I could to cut the tile. It worked much better than starting to drill the hole while having the bit touching the surface because the bit will wiggle toward the rotation the turning bit. Luckily the Bath/Shower kit comes with a wide cover that hides the scratches. If I have to do some work on glass or tile I will make a jig with a hole the size of the bit with handles of sufficient lenght to hole firm and guide the bit.
