Shaz: This is a great book, clear explanations and good tips.
Bought Used - As New so I was disappointed that the cover was dirty, I had to wipe clean with a wet cloth with disinfectant.

NanaNow: I first purchased this book in 2017. Due to time and a few spills, I just purchased again. I have several bread machine books on my Kindle and have used them for several recipes. My favorite in this one is now basically unreadable. The book is well organized with great recipes but YES I just about re-purchased it for my favorite sour cream vanilla bread 😁

Ian Chadwick: Introduction: 21 pages. It doesn’t give details about flour protein levels and nothing at all about Canadian or European flours, but is well laid out and has a good troubleshooting section.

Illustrations: Colour photos of the finished product for almost all recipes, none for technique or ingredients.

Measurements: Imperial volume only, no weights and nothing metric. Instructions have imperial temperatures.

Recipes: either 1.5 or 2-lb loaf. However, there is a chapter called “Smaller Can Be Just Right” with 14 recipes for S & M (1 and 1.5 lb).

Extras: A conversion table for US IV measurements to Canadian and Australian metric units. Four-page glossary. Sweet breads and coffee cake chapter.

Recipes have some tips and a few bits of information, but nothing about the expected taste or use of the products. Most instructions are generic, except where ovens are used for baking. Nutritional information accompanies every recipe.

Nothing at all on other uses for a bread machine such as jams or even a machine’s bake-only option. Five recipes for potato bread, however.

It appears a solid, basic cookbook aimed solely at the American...

Debbie Lee Wesselmann: Although I've been using a bread machine for decades now, long enough to figure out how to create my own recipes, I wanted a selection of recipes that would inspire me to try something new. For the most part, Betty Crocker's Best Bread Machine Cookbook does just that. I would say that about half the recipes don't appeal to me (dilled carrot bread, wild rice and apple bread, and chocolate mint bread, for example), but the fact that half DO appeal to me is great. After all, I often keep cookbooks on my shelf for a measly 3-4 recipes that I love.

For successful results, you need to pay attention to the ingredients. Experience will tell you which ones you can adjust, but all breads require flour, salt, leavening/yeast, liquid, and, usually but not always, fat. These proportions cannot change, although the add-ins and type of each of the essential ingredients can. These combinations and add-ins make up the recipes in this book, from pumpernickel bread to roasted red pepper focaccia. Some of the recipe ingredients surprised me, such as using the higher-gluten bread flour for sticky rolls and cinnamon rolls -- usually softer all-purpose is used for those kind of breads. Mostly,...

Jerry So.Cal.: This book is very well-written. The chapters are clearly organized, the recipes are very easy to follow, the paper used in the book is fairly thick and sturdy, and the photos are great. One reviewer stated that every recipe has a photo of the finished product. That's not true. I don't have the book in front of me, but I'm guessing that one in three recipes has an associated photo. The photos are artistically done and I can honestly say my mouth watered at one point simply from looking at the pictures!
At this point i have tried 3 recipes: honey whole wheat, onion vinaigrette, and honey mustard. They've each turned out perfectly--no sunken loaves, great texture, perfect density, etc. The final chapter has loaves you can make using the dough cycle only, so you have to take out the dough after your bread machine mixed and kneaded it. Normally, i wouldn't even look at that chapter because I want the bread machine to do it all. However, the pictures of the bread look so good and due to my new excitement of baking bread, i figured i could have fun actually shaping dough and baking it in the oven. So i bought a dough board, a rolling pin, etc. Looking forward to using it!
The only...
