JimBoB: I Installed it tonight and it works great so far. Hopefully it will keep on going for the rest of my life. . (I am 81 now). IF you don't hear from me, it is still working, OR this old body is not and I am gone.

I just about didn't make age 70, so feels good to do something again; and it is working as should. Now, what should I tackle???

Eric H: I'm only deducting one star because from my research these ignitors don't last like they used to. We have a 3 year old Lanair MX200 waste oil heater. It had been acting up for a while now and finally got to a point where it just won't fire up. After some diagnosing over the phone with Lanair tech support, we found out that our ignitor wasn't putting out any spark. If you want to test yours, on the Lanair MX200 you need to disconnect one of the yellow wires on the control module. This is for the flame sensor. Then you turn the unit on and hold an insulated screw driver against one of the posts and make an air gap with the tip of the screw driver and the second post. Sparks will fly and arc from the tip of the screw driver to the second post if your ignitor is working. BE CAREFUL IF YOU TRY THIS AND MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR HAND AWAY FROM ANY NON-INSULATED SURFACE.

The Ignitor / Transformer that the Lanair MX200 calls for is 2 to 3 times more than this one depending on where you source it. mike kohler: Had some puffback coming into basement from heater. My heater guy came out and cleaned the furnace and mentioned that the problem was likely the ignitor on my 20 year old New Yorker Furnace. After referencing the part number online, I didn't feel like paying 100 for the original one (which isn't easy to find) I came across this product on Amazon and after reading reviews on here, it seemed to fit the bill so I took a shot and ordered. I recieved the product in about 5 days (regular shipping) and just installed it today. Wiring was easy. White to White. Blue/white to Orange/black. I kept the old cad cell and without disconnecting, reinstalled in the slot provided on the new unit. After installing the whole thing in about 15 minutes, I noticed that they cut the corners off the front so there are no screw down tabs, which leaves the unit floating and not properly sealed. Because of my haste and not feeling like sending it back, I took a hack saw and cut the front tab off the old unit in a minute leaving me with a screwhole aligned "bracket" to hold down the front of the box so it sealed correctly. Done, works fine. Fired right up. Hopefully that is the end of my ignitor problem.
