Reens: This book broke my heart and made me cry multiple times 😭😭 but I'm so glad there is a happy ending. Well, I hope I'm not ruining that for anyone. I mean it's in the title. Of course there is a happy ending, but before getting there, your heart will break so many times while reading this masterpiece. I absolutely loved this beautiful book. I don't even know how to describe it. Barbara Davis is a master storyteller and this is truly a masterpiece. There are two parallel storylines. In the past (during WWII), two young lovers separated by war and kept apart because of a cruel father's lies. Then in the present timeline (which is the 80s), a young woman is navigating life as a gallery owner who's suddenly lost in touch with her fiancee, who is doctor in a warzone, for several months. The two stories are woven together beautifully and when you finally see how the two are connected, it all makes sense. It's a lesson in dealing with past hurts, lies, and wounds, forgiveness, and acceptance. It's a story about love and not just between lovers, but between mothers and daughters, grandparents, brothers and sisters. All kinds of love are explored in this story.

jbell: This is a love story. Beautifully written with a lot of heart. Well paced and easy to follow the changing timeline. The tension between the different characters is very believable. And the aftermath is realistic as well. Plus who doesn't love a happy ending full of romance. Definitely a fun read.

Robert Heinemann: This is one of the most moving and we'll written books that I have read in a long time. When we first meet Rory and become involved in her story straight through to the end we are caught up in the happiness and tragedy that occurs in life.
I would hate to spoil the progression of this story except to say that the three female characters learn that our history helps us survive the unthinkable and the talent of being a woman takes over when fate seems to have delivered a cruel life changing blow.
History changes the face of generations but love has a way of bringing us back to what matters...the Magick. This is a lovely reading experience.

Absoluter Pageturner.

Nancy: This is my second time reading one of Barbara Davis' novels, and it's just as incredible as the first one I read of hers. This one contains a lot of background and history of the takeover of Paris by the Nazis and includes lots of information about the Resistance and everyone working together secretly to stop the Nazis ruthless takeover.
This info is presented as the beginning of a generation of Parisian seamstresses whose hand crafted wedding gowns guarantee a happily ever after.
The novel then moves to a mother and daughter living in Boston in the 1980s. I'm not doing this unique novel justice. You'll just have to read it and let the prose and feelings resonate inside you. A fascinating novel that will sttay with you for a long time. Definitely recommended reading!
