Amazon Customer: They do the job, but there are a few things that could be improved on. 1 there should be a spring to open the pliers, when you are in a tight spot it is very difficult to open the pliers manually and try to position on the spring clip. 2 the ends that go onto the spring clip could have a little more tension on them, when you are manually trying to open the pliers the ends are moving around causing you to teach the neighborhood kids to swear.

Jared B: Bought these to help out on replacing all the rubber hoses with silicone hoses on my VW. Overall they worked well for me, my issue is the ratcheting mechanism is too coarse, it wouldn't be able to hold the clamp open all the way for many clamps which was annoying. Also the lack of spring return kind of sucked, I would need two hands to open the pliers back up after placing a hose clamp or having the clamp slip off.

If I were to purchase hose clamp pliers again I would spend a little more money but I work on cars a lot. If you just need these once and a while they will work fine.

KMD: I have a love hate relationship with these pliers. I love them when they actually work which is almost never and hate them the rest of the time. The locking teeth are too narrow and they will lock close to where you can get the hose clamp off but wont go that extra you need because the teeth wont engage maybe because of the added tension and then as you struggle to clamp them down the rubber handle covers start sliding off. These pliers are a good idea but not made very well. Lets face it, hose clamps are in some pretty tight areas and these would be golden if they worked properly. When I use random pliers I expect to be a bit annoyed taking the clamps off but when I use a plier made for that purpose and it doesn't work its beyond annoying. Lol
