EmeraldCity: This is so helpful to own. We are second time Atkins dieters, the first with the original version, so didn't need to understand the physiology at all. We were working from online information and thought we wouldn't really need the book. I ordered it, browsed through and still didn't think I'd really use it much except for recipes. BUT once you hit a plateau or have a question, she deals with the psychology of sticking with the program. I love her use of "calorie bombs." and stories of others who explain what they learned along the way. Just what I needed when I blew it 6 days in induction on a vacation! It took 5 days to get back into ketosis. Lesson learned, but I didn't give up. It's a very satisfying diet. We made the cauliflower/cheese "dough" pizza and were stunned. We are avid pizza makers. This was totally satisfying, great base for our next pizza. I now want a full cookbook.

Justo Roteta: This book is an offshoot of its immediate predecessor ("The New Atkins For A New You") and is in some ways simpler and easier to read as it delve as deeply into many of the topics covered in its predecessor. My only complaint is that there is nowhere near as much information on Metabolic Syndrome, Pre-Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes as in "The New Atkins For A New You". As a whole, this book offers a simplified version of the Atkins Diet and how it works but it is not as informative as its predecessor although it contains virtually everything you need to know in order to be successful at both losing weight and keeping it off on the Atkins Diet.

Emily Heath: I gave up on this after only a couple of days as I found the diet boring. I've tried every diet under the sun and discovered that the only diet that really works is self-control: eat smaller portions, don't snack between meals, consume a variety of healthy foods, i.e. more veg, less sugar, less alcohol, more water - it's not rocket science - and you will lose weight, and so long as you stick to this principle, the weight will stay off. Above all, any diet, whether you want to lose weight or not, should be about balance, and carbs, so long as you don't pile them on at every meal, are essential to a healthy, balanced diet.

Ms.Terry Ryder: If you read Gary Taubes book, analyzing 60,000 people meta-studies of multiple diets over the past 10,000+ years, you'll understand why he concluded "ANY weight-loss diet will work to the degree you cut carbs".
There is no such thing as an 'essential' carb. Proper nutrition (i.e. dark veggies, phytonutrients, probiotics, vitamins, 60 different minerals, quality proteins, Omega3 fats, etc) is also important.
This Atkins low-carb diet book is highly recommended by multiple diet experts as a quick way to lose excess fat, reset your weight setpoint, get rid of most modern diseases, and also help you get off the medications that eventually screw up your kidneys or liver (doctors never mention that!), or cause Alzheimers (which is caused by insulin irritating the blood vessels of the brain, same as heart disease).
Active Men typically lose 25 lbs the first month, and women about 5-7 lbs the first week or two, then 1.5 lbs/wk afterwards.
Getting used to throwing out that nasty skim milk and eating butter, real cream in coffee, mayonnaise, etc. again is weird at first, but delicious.
The first 4 days is tough as one goes through sugar withdrawals (identical to cocaine...

Ongo Gablogian: If my review is based on how effective the book has been regarding helping me lose weight, then five stars! I was aware of Atkins beforehand of course, but this definitely kept me on track with the most important aspects of any weight loss program - 1) How it works, 2) What to eat and not eat, 3) What to do if you hit a plateau. Even the case studies - which are as one-eyed as you would expect - are useful as they are extreme examples of fat people, ones with health issues, that are now better managed.
Atkins is more sophisticated than the "all fat and no carbs" that it was trumpeted as, years ago; and if done properly you`ll have a balanced diet. I eat FAR more vegetables than I did before, and as you go up the "carb ladder", you`ll be able to introduce fruits, a range of vegetables, as well as (almost) unrestricted meat and protein. The various Atkins snack and shakes have been invaluable too, and it is only their expense that I might grumble about.
Personally, I`ve not found Atkins to be restrictive at all - I`m perfectly happy with the list of induction foods, and have found no need to go outside of this since I started the diet in mid-June. It might be difficult...

Coffee Mama: I have been on Atkins for a year now and have read NANY and a few of the older Atkins books. When I saw The New Atkins Made Easy I had to add it to my collection.
If you are familiar with the Atkins way of eating then you don't really need to purchase this book but for those who are just starting out I'd highly recommend this book. It really does help one understand Atkins without feeling overwhelmed.
All the information is there for each phase of Atkins. The science behind Atkins is not as detailed as NANY.
For each phase there are two menu plans, one that incorporates the Atkins bars, shakes, and frozen meals which I think is great because it will help people get started without feeling like they have to cook every meal and snack. For some that just seems like a lot.
Although Atkins is about eating whole foods but again for those just getting started it makes it 'easier'.
There is also a menu plan that doesn't require any Atkins products. Both menu plans are great and I believe will help set one up for success.
I would also recommend reading NANY too both are great books.
I love my new way of eating. I have lost weight and am much...

P. D. Thompson: As the title suggests this is a more user friendly approach to the Atkins approach defined in "New Atkins New You", it contains practical guidance in a simplified form with more pictures and less science.
The science is relegated to a chapter at the back by Dr Jeff Volek which is fully referenced for the curious like me.
The book has been "Anglicised" from its US origins and includes fast food / eatery brands familiar in the UK like Nando's. The vocabulary has also been converted so you won't be confused by cilantro and zucchini (whatever they might be).
Our labelling system is different to the US which means their "net carb" approach is not routinely applicable to our food labels, unlike the previous book (New Atkins New You) this is acknowledged but one can still be left a bit confused by the use of a US label to illustrate the point. We really needed a crystal clear explanation that the "Carbohydrates" on a UK label are the thing the Atkins approach controls - eg 20 grams/day in Phase 1 - and that this is different to the US "Total Carbohydrate" which includes Fiber (sic). So I subtracted one star for this, as it fell a bit short of perfect...
