AlmaAlma: The media could not be loaded. It works pretty well, I've had no issues with other than I wish there was an easier way to open it and you might need to replace the first filter because it does get stained? after awhile and will lose its shape after awhile. I also wanted to share that it fits perfectly in this ornament that I got from petco and superglued live moss to it to help hide filter more.

I ran the filter for several weeks and had water quality issues -
There a white pad ( floss? ) that appears to be too dense and
was restricting the effectiveness of the filter.
I replaced with the floss I usually use which is far less dense -
and water quality improved almost immediately.
Nicked a point off overall score.
I recommend this filter and this seller.
Just replace the white pad supplied with lower density floss or more sponge!

LisaLisa: I like how it sits in its own cup but I had to purchase double sided suction cups to keep it from floating to the top of the tank. Also, it looks like it holds a lot of media but it’s inhibited by the center hole. I put another pump in temporarily for extra filtration while fiddling around with a new tank. Overall, it’s great. No moving parts. A little large for anything under 8 gallons.

I had a really dirty 20 gallon tank and I put it in and cleaned so much up it changed the top pad brown, and the bottom black pad brown too.
If it doesn’t have enough suction it might be your air pump. I will buy this again.
This is in a ghost shrimp tank with a baby Oscar.
