Gary: After having two routers that fried themselves during power failure events, I decided it was time to protect my new router and it's modem with an uninterruptable power supply. The APC 550 unit is fairly large and heavy, but it does its job well. With a power capacity of 330 watts, I placed the modem and router on two of the four backup outlets. They account for 25 wants of usage, meaning I get a little over 2 hours of backup run time for those devices. In one of the surge-only outlets, I plugged in my large screen TV which draws 215 watts. This gives the unit some spare capacity so I don't need to worry about overload. One important thing to note is that while the outlets are generously spaced, my router and modem both have longitudinal power bricks which means only those two devices have room to fit on the backup power outlets. To set up the router you need to at least temporarily connect the APC unit via the supplied USB A cable to a desktop or laptop computer running Windows or Linux. Then you download software from the APC website which allows you to tell the APC how it should respond during power outages. (e.g. keep devices running until the battery is...

Whose asking?:
Using the non battery side for TV, Bose Soundbar, Bose Subwoofer and Starlink Power Brick. (Starlink heavy on power especially during Snow/Ice thaw cycles.)
I use the battery backup side for PS5, XBOX - X, Mac Mini M2, and a low powered ethernet hub.
At first the APC 650 VA worked when the power went off but it didn't switch back to utility power when the standby generator kicked in. This caused it to deplete the battery and shutdown all my equipment that was in Standby mode after a few hours.
After watching a few videos on YouTube and figuring that I needed to adjust the APC's sensitivity setting to LOW, it now works as intended. Check out videos on YouTube to figure out the settings you need for your specific model.
Very happy with the product. AND the alarm on this model can be shut off but is in no way annoying like other brands or models I've used.

Wonder: The UPS is great, been using it for over a week and throughout power outages and its been nothing but good. Its not the most powerful or not the most in battery life but its certainly enough for the average joe with their router. Its even good for a small amount of mobile power despite not being made for it, i wouldn't suggest it as you can risj damage to your unit but as for me i am careful so i am fine (i am not responsible for any and all damages made to your unit(s). Any and all careless acts carried out by you is yours and your fault only.) Ease of use is great, just connect the battery, plug it in and hit the power button. Turns right on and starts working immediately, some things to note. In the event of a long term outage, i would recommend checking in on it every now and then as the default alarm doesn't sound untie the battery is quite low. I would suggest either changing it or just checking in on it after a while. Other than that its a great little UPS and i would recommend it to others. One thing id like to see added is the ability for the ups to change the power button color depending on the SOC (state of charge) would be great to see that instead of...

WonderGamer:
I originally purchased 2 of these to help protect some of my more expensive equipment from surges (1 each in my home office & front room) after my electric company gave me the proverbial finger when I filed a claim on a $350 video surveillance system that had the hard drive controller get fried after a surge that happened when they were repeatedly turning the power on & off; I later bought a 3rd one & am expecting I may purchase a 4th in the future.
So far, I've seen very little issue with them, even getting some usage on the devices that are plugged into them during a power outage (although I usually unplug those devices from them to preserve the battery life in case the power is out for 3 or more days again, intending on using that battery life to charge my phone if necessary). I'm impressed with their performance so far & really have nothing to say negative about them for the time being. The only thing I can really say is to watch what outlets you plug your devices into if you want battery backup on them; 2 of the outlets on the device do NOT provide battery backup, only surge protection.
UPDATE: I have purchased 6 of these...

David Suich: I'm a power plant engineer who used to work in the battery industry. This product uses a traditional sealed lead-acid battery that does not suffer from thermal runaway (fire or explosion) like standard lithium-ion batteries. So if the electronics last, the battery can be easily replaced every 5 years with an off-the-shelf standard battery available all over the internet. Works great for my wireless router. I live on top of a mountain in the middle of the woods and the power often blinks off or goes out at least 20 times a year. This UPS keeps me from losing work or losing connection when I'm on a video conference on my laptop.
