Seeking Disciple: We live in a fallen, sinful world. Yet we don't even need to look at the world but to ourselves to know our depravity. We know we're vile and so undeserving of God's grace. Christmas reveals the gospel, the love of God for us.

What an excellent book Paul Tripp has written that gives us hope. Christmas means many things to people but for the child of God, it gives us hope as we see the Christ child born in Bethlehem. Christ didn't come to give us a better life or presents or Santa Clause. He came to live a sinless life in perfect obedience to His Father and to die a sinners death in our place. The Father raised Jesus from the dead to show His acceptance of the sacrifice of the Son and bring us eternal salvation through faith in Christ (Romans 4:23-25). This is our hope.

Christmas brings us joy and hope but it only comes through the gospel of His grace in His Son. Thank you Paul Tripp for this gospel reminder at Christmas and throughout the year. To God be the glory!

Amazon Customer: A refreshing reminder of how the Christmas story reflects how much we are cherished by our Creator/God/Father.
As He reunites us to Himself we are freed from the things that derail our lives to live life abundantly by His grace and majesty.

Jumvd: These devotionals are not meant to be feel good, fluffy reads. They are deep and very well written. They really make you think, and are thought provoking, great for discussion. It is one of the best written devotionals I’ve read to date. I bought 8 of these books and have given them to friends and family. I highly recommend this book, you will not be disappointed.

Millicent: I have already ordered 4 if this book .. ordered 2 more for gifts. The box they came in was in mint condition but the books were damp! I could see the moisture beneath the clear wrapping. Took that off and had to throw the cover away because it was too damp. This had to have happened on your end! I love the book and am giving them as gifts but the books that came today I wouldn’t give as gifts. Help .. please and thank you!

ScotFlower: The concepts in this book are solid. However, it is not a good fit for me personally. I think with some editing and re-focus, plus adding in positive tangibles to implement... this book could be more effective. Even a prayer at the end of each day where we let go of something and hold onto something else that is more positive would be helpful.

First the book is very repetitive. I am currently on day 19 and day after day, I feel I am reading the same concepts and phrases over again. I have even questioned at times if I am accidentally re-reading a previous section only to assure myself that I am not... he is just repeating himself. Now repetition can be a very good thing: when you want to get something embedded into your head for permanent memory, but this book overdoes it and makes the sections longer than they really needed to be.

Second, I feel the concepts presented at the top of each section is not the focus of the reading. I feel so much of the focus keeps going back to the same narrative, that the different focus or message in each section get lost and seem added in as afterthoughts.

Lastly, this book left me feeling devoid of joy. I should feel elated...

Ian Acheson: I've always enjoyed Tripp's writings. He has an excellent grip on the purpose of the Gospel and the significance of the Christmas story and the incarnation.

Adoration, as in the title, is very important to Tripp as he often writes about it. Accordingly, this 31-day devotional is very focused on Jesus and His role as Saviour and how desperate we are without Him. It's the theme that runs throughout most of the devotionals. It's important this is clearly understood and presents our predicament in a number of different ways and how Jesus responds to each. I just found it a little repetitive and lacked some of the strong story telling that other authors use in Advent that bring the story of Christmas alive.

Tripp has allowed for the opportunity for each day's theme to be shared with children by providing some discussion points for parents, however, I think this is a devotional mostly for adults.

If you enjoy Tripp's writings you'll definitely enjoy this perspective on Advent.

Richard Stewart-Smith: There cannot be anything to dislike about this Devotional Christmas book.
We are taken on a day by day journey through the events leading to the birth of Jesus. Then His miraculous birth followed by the reasons for His birth as the only way for God to reconcile us again with Himself.

We are asked to behave with the innocence of children in order to fully accept our God as the master of all, who creates a bond of the greatest love between us and Himself through Jesus His Son coming to live and die on earth for us in order for us to be saved from our sins.

Every day there is a section on how we should teach our children the story of Christ's birth and the reasons and meaning behind each part of the story. This also aids the understanding of adults reading the book to get through to the nub of each lesson being taught to improve their understanding as well as the children's knowledge and belief in God and the reasons and importance of our Saviour to keep us from sin.

Oh how I wish I had read this book as a young man in order to explain the full meaning behind the birth of Christ Jesus to my own two little ones in a better and more informed way. We would all...

Karl Dahlfred: Our family enjoyed reading through this Advent/Christmas devotional book during December. It actually has 31 readings, not just through 25 readings to take you up to Christmas Day. Each day’s reading is 2-3 pages and is geared towards adults but concludes with a short paragraph suggesting how to discuss the theme of the day with kids. Our 11yr old and 8yr did well engaging with the material but it was over the head of our 4yr old. Author Paul David Tripp writes clear Gospel-oriented reflections on Christmas, looking at not only cheery Christmas topics like love and hope but also sin and suffering. Sometimes his sentences get a bit long but overall the writing is good and I am glad that we reading through this together as a family after meal time each (or almost each) day. I’d recommend it if you are looking for a short book of Christmas/Advent devotional readings for December
