Accurately Measure Router Bit Depths with Trend GAUGE/1 Metric/Imperial Router Depth Gauge

Alan: I was astonished at how cheap and flimsy this product is. The plastic frame is so thin it could snap if not handled carefully (ie don't put it in your toolbox). The only adjustment is to use gravity to let the metal rule fall to its destination and then engage the plastic stop to get your fixed measurement. If I bought this in Poundland I wouldn't complain but Trend are meant to better than this surely?!?!

G-Tay: Steel ruler provides accuracy of measurements. Fitting steel ruler to plastic guide is stiff and clamp does not hole ruler (with clamp on you can still move ruler). But once fitted to the guide the ruler moves freely with the clamp off. I would have preferred a more rigid material (metal) for the frame and clamp rather than rigid plastic, the latter not lending itself to accuracy of measurement. But for the price it serves its purpose for setting up a router.

Roman E. Johnston: Checked accuracy with woodpecker rule and it is spot on. Super easy, inexpensive. Worth it if you do not want digital.

Beulahhandyman: Easy to use, accurate, and good price. I did have to mark on it which side of the lever was locked and which side allowed the ruler to move. The markings are nonexistent at the locking lever. The instructions do show how to lock it, but they are in infinitesimal print. Overall, a good value.

George M: It is easy to use, but you have to be carefull as the locking mecnanism is delicate. The body is plastic and the ruler is steel (a bit thin for me will it rust ?not sure) Rememer, always treat precision tools with respect. This has to be carefully stored as the rule could be easily bent. All round I am happy with it especially as it does not need batteries.

TomCon: OK, this is a really handy little thing - it genuinely does make setting plunge depths and fence positions on the router far, far quicker and easier than struggling on with using a simple steel rule - but you can also use it as a short marking gauge.

4 stars rather than five because it does just feel *cheap* (the plastic feels very plasticky and brittle, but I guess at this price that's to be expected), and if the rule had been longer it could have been used for negative depths as well (gauging that rebate you cut with the mitre saw for example, or even as a double check on the groove you just cut with the router).

Other than that, I really can't complain - well worth the buy.

Paolo Cinotti: Ho deciso di spendere 4 euro e 70 ( era il prezzo al momento dell'acquisto ) e devo dire che a questo prezzo e forse anche un po' oltre - ma sicuramente non oltre i 10 euro - non e' per niente male. Preciso e' preciso ( provato con due calibri di nota marca ) si, forse un po' "flimsy" ma non come sentito in altre recensioni, ovvio non e' un giapponese interamente in metallo - magari lo facessero - pero' il suo sporco lavoro lo fa benino. Sulla durata si vedra' anche se l'unico punto debole potrebbe essere la levetta di arresto (dietro pero' ci sono due vitine che chiudono un coperchietto, magari gli appassionati di fai da te come noi potranno in futuro intervenire...). Tutto sommato sono soddisfatto e devo dire che a pochi euro lo ricomprerei sicuramente. Mentre scrivo e' a 21 euro, questa invece e' sicuramente una cifra folle!

Taco_Sleaze: This never leaves my router's side. I use it for setting depth and length of cut. You can also use it for measuring material thickness and eye balling the router's cut. It works great!

REP: Although this is a very cheap made tool for the price. It works very well. I gave it 4 stars because my opinion is it's over priced.
