Polly: My sm book club rd this book. It is in depth, perhaps only one chapter a wk dragged it out for a few of us. I do think life’s struggles and grief or fear or anxiety itself leaves a foundation for this book . I recommend it.

Rose: This book brings such validation and peace to the heart and mind when it comes to grief and knowing the heartache that exists in the world. It helps you see the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to praying for the hard stuff and through the hard stuff. This book will be one I read repeatedly. I will and would recommend to anyone.

Stephanie Crosby: This book has done nothing less than save my faith. For the last year, I have been walking the most difficult path of my life and I could feel pieces of my faith falling off as a trod weary steps of survival. My faith is had since childhood was not up to the task because the Christians around me told me my anxiety was a sin. My fear meant I didn’t love Jesus enough.

Tish Harrison Warren has written a book that comes alongside us in our weakest, most vulnerable moments and gives us something to hold when it’s all slipping through our hands. A prayer to pray. A cry in the night. An image from Scripture of our Savior enduring the same (and worse). She does not say “it’s not so bad.” She does not say “you’re overreacting.”

Prayer in the Night beautifully embraces the mystery of this Christian life and Christian faith. It challenges us to let go of our desperate and fruitless grip on our perceived control and cling instead to a God who loves us. Thank you, Ms Warren. Your book is a balm to my wounded and weak soul.

Bettina van Brummelen: Tish Warren is a friend when you need one who gets what you're going through. One who doesn't come up with quick and hollow answers. Lovely book.

Deon: This book is one of the best books I have read in my life. I know it was written by a wonderful spirit filled woman of God who has walked with Jesus through her experiences. I was blessed

Kolby Milton: I recently read "Prayer in the Night" and found it to be a comforting and insightful guide for anyone who struggles with finding peace and hope in the midst of life's challenges. The book offers practical advice and encouragement for how to pray during difficult times, and it's clear that the author has a deep understanding of the importance of prayer in our lives. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for comfort and guidance in their prayer life.

HD: Such deep meaning in words we say without thinking. These prayers will never be the same again when we understand something of their complexity and mystery. They help us to see God.

Amazon Customer: This is an excellent book. I probably highlighted a third of my ebook copy. I started it twice last year via audio then switched to ebook because I wanted to see and highlight the text. So I'm going to award myself with reading the book twice in the last 12 months.

However, what kept me from finishing it until now and rating it with 5 stars was Harrison Warren's editorial for the NYT in February that called for an end to online church services. As a chronically ill person, online services have been a boon for me. Yes, it is ideal to enjoy the service in person, but I haven't lived an ideal life like, ever. 2020 was a particularly difficult year for my family and knowing that I didn't have to use up a whole weekend's worth of spoons to go to church Sunday morning was a relief.

Also, Covid isn't over and the spectre of long term Covid is terrifying. I'm going to go get shot #4 and keep masking and mostly stay home, still. I love my church and miss my three trips down to the building per week as life was before Covid. But life changed and I don't think Harrison Warren listened to herself when she wrote in this book about ministering to the afflicted, those whose...

Julio Loreto: Love this book.
This is one of those few books that I've really enjoyed and one that with each chapter I feel like it takes me into action, in this case, to prayer.

Barbara L. Terpstra: Having enjoyed Tish HarrisonWarren's "The Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life" I was excited to learn about "Prayer in the Night". I was pleased to get a sneak peek before the actual publication by participating in the launch team, reading the book virtually. IVP also provided a free book (and, who doesn't love a free book!).

First, let me say, you will want the actual book. This is a book you'll want to highlight, ponder, and share with friends. I do lot of reading through e-books, but some books you just have to own--this is one of them.

As expected Tish is refreshingly honest and vulnerable. Her love for God shines through in her writing, and she often articulated things I feel and struggle with. For example, on page 27 she says: "How can we live as Christians in a World where children suffer, where marriages disintegrate, where injustice rages, where tyrants succeed, where we face frustration and futility, were we get sick, where we all eventually die? How do we trust a God who does not stop all this from happening? How do we dare ask him to keep watch?" This is something I've struggled with this year. I know the words, God is good, but do...
