Ann In Mesa: This book is well written, and provides the reader with a powerful portrait of the life of the author. Strong themes of the tragedy and resolve of Reyna and her family on their immigration journey. An easy yet compelling read that reveals an individual’s struggles and triumphs as she pursues her own dreams. I enjoyed this book.

Ozzie: i read both of Reyna Grande’s and memoirs within a few days. I am glad she wrote a sequel. Her story is inspiring, but also sad. Knowing how she and so many others suffer and how she was able to break the cycle of violence and poverty. Her sister Mago’s love and dedication to Reyna and her brother was amazing-perhaps it was because, as the eldest, she had experienced loving parents before both their mother and father went away. Reyna Grande’s honesty and insight about her journey as a Latina immigrant, as a woman searching for herself and for family is a wonderful read. Read her first book “The Distamce Between Us” first.

Alex: This book was easy to find and was delivered as promised. This book was required reading for a college class. I personally did not like the author writting style, topic and political agenda.

KFCJ: This book is very oh woe me my life is very hard..
Well the author made her own life much more difficult by her own choices..
SPOILER ALERT
She buys a house in a rough neighbourhood (she won by a lottery system and put her name down for a house she hadn’t seen..) and complains. Right on.
Complains about her toxic relationships, but willingly goes back to a guy just to have a baby with him? I’m sorry I don’t see why this book is highly rated. She obviously went through a hard time and has found herself but I didn’t really like this writer by the end of this memoir

KD: A true story, told in a very unique way. The plot is great as we wonder all along what will happen to this little girl. It includes many little stories in one, each one more impressive ou incredible than the previous one. The author did a wonderful job telling her own story, a very moving story.
