Claire M Morris: Thinner than a credit card and do a great job of focusing sunlight to start a fire. I’ve used them with several dozen high school students and they have no problems with making them work.

Sandhills Complete Security: A very good thing to have in any camping or survival pack. Could be used to help read fine print or use to help start a fire when needed.

Dan S.: I doubt i will use it to light fires like I did when I was a child, but it is possible. Now that my eyes are older it is nice to have a few magnifiers around for extra small print or tiny slivers or threading a tiny needle or burning ants. OK I don't burn ants anymore. It is great for outdoor activities or household or travel. The only item I wasn't sure about giving a 5 stars for is durability because I haven't had it long term and they are very light weight, but I will give it the benefit of the doubt because they are so inexpensive and convenient and the customer service has been superb.
I have ordered several things from 5col Survival Supply in the past. So far it is 100% satisfaction on the items and the service. This time they went above and beyond on the customer service.

Amazon Customer: I liked the idea of yet another way to start a fire, so was excited to receive mine. The individual plastic case is good to protect it. I just couldn't get it to start a flame. Not even a little smoking burn spot. I tried using a slightly larger fresnel lens bookmark in the same conditions and it worked instantly. I wonder if the surface scoring is deep enough to create the effect?

Will and Eva J.: Practice with it before you have an emergency. With about five minutes of practice, I was able to start a fire... take a crumpled paper towel, put it in your backyard barbeque or fire pit, and hold the card very steady six or so inches above the paper, and angle the lens card until you have a bright point of light on the paper. Hold steady...and POOF! Flame!
