Frodo: Great little packets I have bought multiple times.
Now I have a microwave oven and trying to recharge them. I have a very sensitive and calibrated gram scale to check the effect of microwaving on the weight of the packet, and hence the moisture content. Unfortunately I don't have a control – I didn't weight a new, unused packet.
I ran a batch of used packets multiple times in the oven. The first run was at power level 1 out of 10, for 2 min. This resulted in an avg. packet weight of about 7g. Then I did another run of these same packets on level 3 for 1 min. This resulted in an avg. weight of about 6.79g. Then I did another run on level 3 for 1 min. This produced an avg. weight of about 6.79g (no improvement over last run). I did a final run at level 3 for 2 min. This produced an avg. weight of about 6.76g (slight improvement over the last run).
From this experiment, it seems that the used packets were holding about 0.21g of moisture each. This is way off from the product's stated claim of "Each 5g desiccant packet can absorb humidity of 1.5g". It's off by a factor of 7+. So, either the packets don't hold nearly as much moisture as advertised, or they need...

Greyson Christel: They are fairly small which makes it nice to spread them through our long term food storage bins to keep the humidity low. I bought the non color indicating kind here, and then I bought some color indicating packets from a different seller to help indicate if they all need to be recharged in the oven or if they still have some time left. Might take the water on at different speeds but I’d imagine they would be fairly similar. Works good. Small and there are a ton of them which is great for spreading them all over the place

Bob J: I use these in my ammo storage. The color change is so helpful. When it's pink, heat it again. Follow the instructions- heat it on low or else the plastic may melt. No brainer, and very fairly priced. I use 2 of these per ammo can. Load 'em up, add the packets and check after a day or two. You may need to cycle them through the microwave a couple times with new boxes of ammo until they are fully dry.

Ryan T. Bouchard: Great so far. My girlfriend and I preserve a lot of food by drying, especially edible wild mushrooms! We learned that, in time, the dried boletes etc. would get moldy from moisture. So to prevent this, we began to keep our dried mushrooms in the freezer...but it started to get full, lol. So these packets are the ideal solution. We seal each bag inside another freezer bag, which has one or more of these packets in it. Only one of the 100 packets was slightly unsealed at the end, and was spilling some of the dessicant. But they are very hard to rip open, if they are sealed to begin with...and besides, well, that's exactly why we paid a little extra for this non-toxic product--so that it is safe to use with food, even if it did rip open. It has allowed us to keep preserving as much of our wild foods collection as we want, without it taking up freezer space. Nice product.

Science-Minded Multiple Chemical Sensitivities Sufferer: In case anyone else is concerned about this, as of mid-February 2023, buying the 300-ct Tyvek non-indicating 5g packets means that you get a mylar, metallized/aluminized resealable ziplock bag full of packets. My bag arrived sealed, and although there were perfume-like odors on the *outside* of the bag, the packets inside have not absorbed any smells and the mylar protected them against odors/VOCs.
Very pleased with this barrier-film packaging, as I am extremely sensitive to fragrances and other strong odors, and other brands of desiccants transfer absorbed smells to the goods I store them with (making those goods, in turn, noxious). Won't have this problem with this batch from this brand, at least. Recommended for others with fragrance sensitivities or multiple chemical sensitivities.
