Loretta Westlake: Okay, I really want to be excited about this.
I usually grate fresh garlic with a fine grater and that works perfectly. I saw this and thought it looked pretty nifty.
I used it for the first time tonight and I just can’t get into it.
1. I needed to dirty a small cutting board (or something) to crush the garlic on. 1 more dish.
2. I had to use a fork to clean out the holes. Another dirty dish.
3. I ended up with garlic ALL OVER my fingers, trying to get all the useable stuff off the crusher.
I’m not sold on it.
Maybe I’ll find a more efficient way to use it, but for now, it will probably just take up space in the drawer and I’ll go back to my grater.

narf c.: Bought this because sometimes squeezing the hand-held version garlic crusher is too hard on my damn arthritis. Instead, you crush it on the cutting board with both hands on each side. Works great, cleans easy with a quick scrub brush, and is stainless steel, something I cannot seem to find on the hand holds, they're either aluminum which discolors in the dishwasher or plastic which breaks, and there is always chunks you can't seem to clean out. This is simple and easy, and I'm annoyed I never saw it years ago.

Biz: I got this because my friend has one like it that I used and loved. This one didn’t work well. It mostly just mashed the cloves instead of pressing the clove through the holes. It took way to much effort and I ended up using an extra clove to make up for all the large chunks that didn’t/wouldn’t go through the holes. I’m going to find out where my friend got her and just get a better one. It still was more minced than I could have done with a knife alone and it is way easier to clean than the typical style of garlic press. For this and the fact that the metal was sturdy and held up to how hard I had to press is why I still have it 3 stars. It mostly works but you get what you pay for on this one

DCChef: I try to avoid writing reviews, but this 'tool' is intriguing enough that I felt compelled to. First - it works, doing what it says that it will do. It doesn't 'cut' the garlic (or anything else that you might like to pulverize). It mashes it, allowing larger pieces to come up through the holes. If you keep shifting the tool around you mash all your garlic. Usually I do this with the back of a good sturdy knife. So. If you're looking for anything other than mashed garlic use your knife, but for mashed garlic, which is quite useful, this is quick. It's sturdy as hell (you could pry a tire from the rim with it) and it's kind of comfortable/not quite comfortable yet/but I expect with more use it will be - did you understand that? Cleans up perfectly in the dishwasher. I don't usually buy 'kitchen gadgets'. Use your knife. But, this mashes garlic (or probably many other things) quickly, well and cleans up nice. And it's a good value.

qofmiwok: Standard type garlic presses either a) I don't have the hand strength for, b) leave a bunch of garlic at the bottom, c) smush the garlic, or d) are hard to clean. Or all 4! This is so simple and easy. Put 1 clover under, rock a couple times and it's through, a second one beneath it and a couple rocks, it's through, a 3rd clover under and rock back and forth a couple times, etc. (You can do multiple at once also, but have to press harder.) All the garlic is beautifully contained in the device which you can scoop out with a spoon. Then it rinses clean with a standard stream of water.

My only disappointment is the listing shows a pink peeler and I got black, and I'm trying to go with colored accessories. I haven't tried the peeler because I bought pre-peeled garlic.

Anadyrgirl: I love garlic but am too lazy to use fresh, except for special occasions.
I had a small collection of useless garlic presses.
I used garlic powder - preferring it to tasteless bottled minced garlic.
No more, now preparing fresh garlic is little more work than opening the bottle of garlic powder.
Peeling, mincing, and cleanup is a easy.

To my amazement, the peeling tube actually works. Yes it takes repeated bouts of rolling - especially for the older, more dried out cloves. It might not save much time but is a lot less fiddly than other methods.

The garlic rocker mincer is effective. It makes larger pieces than do garlic presses. It does not require upper body strength. The garlic rocker cleans up easily and hasn't rusted.

I read the reviews (with photos) of people who say these doesn't work. It looks to me that they didn't rock the device until all the garlic was minced. Note that this rocker, as the original Joseph rocker, has fine edges on cutting side of the hexagonal hole - other brands just have uniform holes and don't cut. These other brands smush the garlic and require great force to push any of the garlic through the holes. Avoid...

Shopping Susie: Excellent for crushing multiple garlic cloves. I always break the hinged sort and find them fiddly to clean. This is sturdy and very easy to clean - scrape with a knife, quick rinse and put in the dishwasher. Removed one star because if the handles were slightly longer they wouldn’t dig into my palms and the design would be perfect.
