Debby: The garlic press sounded like an interesting item for my kitchen drawer. I no longer get it washed, put in the drawer and bringing it back out to use. Finding myself using fresh garlic fat more now, and it truly does make a difference.

Mr. Fixit in Review: After reading some reviews, I was concerned about the sturdiness of the press. However, I found this to be a very good and strong press. I'm thinking that people who had issues loaded this thing up to the top and didn't crush just a couple bulbs at a time. If you don't abuse it, this will hold up very well. I really like that it's made of stainless steel. We've had other presses that tarnish quickly from garlic acidity.
The unit isn't easy to clean by hand, but comes out of a Bosch dishwasher without any residue.

mckeeca: It is because I have tried so many others that are terrible that I can overlook the small things about this press that I don't like. My number one compliment - not much garlic gets wasted and number two is that I can run this through the dishwasher for easy clean up. What I don't like about it is with large cloves, some of the garlic gets pushed up into the crevices instead of down through the holes. I have figured out how to scrape that stuff out so it doesn't get wasted but I would prefer it would all press through the holes. The other thing that is weird are the silver end pieces near the end of the handles. They are loose and slide up and down. Not sure what the purpose is. It's a little annoying but doesn't hurt anything.

Dave10Gx: I eat a main meal out 6 days a week and at least two of them are a fish dinner complete with a slice of lemon. I always liked to squeeze a bit of the lemon on the fish but frequently ended up with a messy situation and sticky fingers. Once while trying to compress the slice between a soup spoon and a fork the lemon managed to somehow slip out and fly over my shoulder and land in the middle of the occupied table behind me. I jumped up and grabbed my napkin and recaptured the slice and wiped up the spot. Fortunately the diners were quite nice about it but I decided not to try that maneuver again.
I happened to think a garlic press might just be the answer and tried 2 different ones. One had no size description and though cheaper, was just not handy to use. The one I'm reviewing is smaller and has a basket to be squeezed of about an inch deep and not quite an inch long and about 5/8 or so wide. I cut the slice in two and fork the two pieces into the press. A larger than expected amount of juice is available. I now drip a few drops into my water glass also. The solid sides of the container keep the juice coming out the perforated bottom only. I now have a total of four of these...
