Hillary MurdickHillary Murdick: This is a pretty good little double bit 3.5lb axe. I wished it would've came with a wooden handle but I knew that going in. It's made in Mexico and better than any Chinese made axe I've ever had but not quite as finished as a USA made axe, but for the money it's great!! Holds an edge nicely.

Jordan: The actual product works great. The handle is extremely strong and don't think it will ever break. For the price, the quality of steel is good. My only complaint is I was notified that axe was delivered on the 16th and was just to the left of my front door. When I looked, the axe was nowhere to be found. Then, on the 23rd, the axe was delivered but was left behind a pillow by my driveway. The axe is great, the shipping and delivery, not so much.

SpiceGuy: I bought this as a replacement for a slightly older model which I had borrowed from a friend, then damaged. It's a little bit sleeker and more elegant that it's older cousin, and the handle is a little lighter. I'm stuck with the older, slight;y abused model, now, and my friend has this newer one, but both a nice axes and I would buy this brand again, and use this vendor again, no problem!

GWP1: Not very good, very lightweight. I bought on the strength of the Estwing name but no evidence that this has seen anybody from the company, no branding. And it was poor, shaft cracked at the head on second swing into a block of wood. Returned immediately.

Dan Conover: We live on an old farm that was left fallow for almost a decade, and the fields are overgrown with an invasive, thorny Frankentree hybrid of the Bradford Pear. The thorns are a serious problem, as they can flat out the front tire on a tractor. So rather than bush hog these trees, we cut them and stack them by hand -- making it safe for a tractor to follow behind.

Of course, we've got about a thousand of them. So we put some mileage on our axes.

Got this double-bit based on reviews and price. Since it arrived back in the fall I've probably cut down give-or-take about 100 trees with it and used it to split some firewood. My boys have also used it. And it's looking pretty damned gnarly at this point.

Most of the damage is to the plastic and synthetic rubber just below the head. It's shredded. Also, the plastic cap on top of the head has come loose.

But these are generally aesthetic complaints. The handle holds up well and the bit is still snug. The blades have some nicks and dings, but I keep them just sharp enough that it doesn't matter. Some people like their axes razor sharp, but I'm clearing land, not shaving. Oversharpen the blade and it will soon...
