The Fiskars Hookaroon 28 Inch is a top-of-the-line gardening axe that is designed with convenience and ergonomics in mind. Its toothed blades provide a secure grip on wood, while its non-slip handle improves control and grip. Its compact size makes it easy to store and transport. This orange and black axe is sure to make your gardening projects easier and more efficient.Holly G. Davis: I purchased this to augment a full length 75 year old hookaroon. This tool has been outstanding. I work with firewood and have an old circular sawmill and this thing is a back saver. Highly recommended!!!!

Jason Isley: I ordered this for my wife, who helps stack wood. Its very light weight and sturdy as is my experience with other Fiskars products. The hook is very aggressive so one often needs to really rotate the handle down toward the hook to free it. Not a bad feature if you're using it to carry logs, but less apt at picking them up and tossing them in the back of a truck or just hefting them onto a stack.

Gino: This lightweight tool is miles ahead of the competition. It is lightweight, and durable. Not bulky like the rest. I put off buying it because of the price, that was a mistake.

Gary W. Fogg: The Fiskars Hookaroon XA22 has proven to be an indispensable tool for trail work here in Midcoast Maine. It can be used to remove logs both large and small from trails easily once they are cut up into 3 foot lengths with the chain saw. I have moved logs up to 24 inches in diameter anywhere I like simply by pivoting one end around and then the other in zigzag fashion. Small logs can be picked up like a man spearing paper and tossing them off the trail with a shake of the wrist. I can also move logs by rolling them over the ground, dragging them by one end (like skidding) or by raising one end of the log vertically and then letting it down again in another direction, thus avoiding obstructions.
When it comes to slash, the hookaroon can help with that too. I just hook onto the fork of a tree limb and drag the brush through the woods as far as I please. I even use the hookaroon like a rake to sweep up several small branches at a time and toss them off the trail.
All this I can do without hardly bending over at all. It is a stunning force multiplier equivalent in value to such tools as the Bahco 51 inch tree lever or the Maasdam rope puller. In conclusion, at barely 1.5...

Ric Harrison: Before purchasing, I read a few of the reviews on the product. Most people had very positive things to say about these tongs. One reviewer said that they were disappointed in the assembly/quality of the device. They stated that the hinges in the mechanism appeared as though the rivets had not been pressed tightly enough together and that it felt flimsily assembled (paraphrasing). I disagree.
After receiving my own pair and trying them out, I believe that the looseness at the hinge points is a design necessity. The tongs needs to open and close freely without any friction or binding. Gravity should help in their use. The components are fairly small and lightweight, but still quite strong. If they were more tightly assembled, there isn't enough mass there to close them on their own. I've used heavy old iron tongs before, and these ain't them.
Although these are small, I was surprised that the WERE in fact able to pick up logs about 12" in diameter. Logs with a rougher bark texture are definitely easier to grab but I found that with some practice and adjustments to my technique, it was possible to more easily pick up smoother and smaller logs down to about 3" in...

Cory Lievers: I'm on the fence about this purchase, I wish I could have got the bigger one but I was unable to find it. This is a decent enough product, I really like Fiskars tools, but many logs I find harder to pick up with them still, and if a log is still within the size of the limits, it still might be hard to grip on to lift. As such, it seems really only better for smaller logs. Good to have in my toolbag for firewood tasks just in case though. I got the hookaroon as well, as that is what I would recommend buying if only getting one.
