Mrsmcc: I’m pretty disappointed with this book. I was really hoping for some bone warming winter soups for my family. This book seems like it is written for a true chef. Fancy, restaurant style soups with lots of hard to find ingredients. It has its place I’m sure but it’s not in my kitchen. Bummer.

Soo great soup recipes: If you are a soup fan, this book is a must 👌

Haids1987: I am a huge soup lover and this is the perfect book for me. I could eat soup every day, in every season, and that's what makes this one so nice: It breaks down soup recipes season by season. That means that whatever vegetables or meat is in season, the book will cover it. For example, since tomatoes are a spring crop, all tomato-based soups are in the summer section.

I really like this book! I've started putting sticky note tabs on the recipes I've tried, slowly working my way through.

G. Greene: This book not only has some terrific recipes, but is so well presented and the artwork and layout are just super. Can’t wait to try them out.

Brock Lion: Before you get the wonrg idea, let me say that I like this book, I'd even give it 4.5 stars. I'm just a detail oriented person and there are details that stand out as incongrous.

It is a book written in the UK. UK cups, pints, quarts are different from US measures. UK measures are 6/5 larger than US. Before you say 5/4 I will point out that the UK fluid ounce is smaller than the US fluid ounce.

Reading through the book, it becomes obvious that some recipes use US measures and some use UK. It is unimportant unless you have mixed measuring tools in your kitchen. It's soup not pastries where measurements are critical. Most recipes (maybe all) use cup/pint/quart measures and give metric equivalents though the tralations are careess and often inaccurqate.

The book starts off with techniques, making stock and other essentials of soup making. Do not overlook these points. They really make a difference in getting a consistent soup.

I must comment on the clam chowder recipes. Both recipes tell you to shuck the clams and cut them up. the recipes do not suggest what size of clam there are many ranging from littleneck to quahog, of course your choice will make a...

Amazon Customer: Haven't tried any yet but love that they are for apx 4 servings, provide information on freezing. Includes bread recipes and helpful tips. I only wish that there was a picture for all the soups.

T. Peters: I always thought I hated soup. I hate ramen. I can't stand "wet" (West) Asian foods and I always thought I just disliked soup in general. Yet, I've always considered borscht one of my comfort foods, and I happily have a bowl of tomato soup with a slice of cheddar on toast.

This book has made me think differently of soup. Amongst the 200 recipes in this book there's a myriad of soups spanning all cultures and all vegetables imaginable. It's extremely well laid out using the seasons as the main reference, and then broken down per main vegetable particular to that season.

I've been working from home which allows easy access to the kitchen meaning more time for creating a substantial lunch in the kitchen. As a soup noob this book has helped in dramatically cutting down on my bread and cheese consumption in favour of a 5-out-of-5 a day veg soup for lunch. Many soups can be bulked up to include more pasta or potatoes so they can function as a proper dinner as well: I've added about 150g of small pasta shells to the "Tuscan bean soup" and I ended up with a God Tier dinner soup.

It's overall a great starting point for soups. The vast majority of soups take less than...
