Beckee: I love Christy's recipes and I was excited to get this ccokbook. It was on my Christmas wish list! The only thing is, I found that the meals weren't as delectable or always as consistent as her blog recipes. Some of the exact named recipes have ingredient changes. I am still excited to try some of them though! It may be good to be challenged out of my same meal idea tendencies. Otherwise a great book!

Kat 🇨🇦: This is a fantastic cook book. The recipes are easy to follow with simple ingredients and taste delicious. I've been cooking a long time but Christy includes simple things like easy made gravies if you don't have meat dripping. Simple marinades and breads that I haven't yet learned in my many years.
So far my favourite recipe is Cashew Teriyaki Chicken, my whole family loved it and it was really fast to prepare in the slow cooker.
BEWARE if you are looking for low fat, low calorie meals this is not that cookbook. If you are interested in quick, easy delicious meals that are not calorie conscious, I think you would love this cookbook!

Roxane R: The recipes in "Come Home to Supper" are (a) simple and easy to follow and (b) call for common ingredients that most people have on hand or can easily find in any supermarket. Because of that, and because the cooking techniques called for are very basic ones, it's a great book for inexperienced cooks or those who are just looking for easy to prepare meals and desserts. Most cookbooks aren't as simple and easy to follow as this one, which is why I love it so much - it's ideal for cooks like me who want basic, uncomplicated recipes that taste good and are family-friendly.
In addition to the great recipes, the tidbits of thought-provoking discussion-starters peppered throughout the cookbook are one of my favorite features. They make for great family talks over dinner. My favorites are "Your Choice for Today" (p. 117), "A Light in the Darkness" (p. 167), "The Benefits of Being Stubborn" (p. 183), and "Life Really Isn't Fair" (p. 283) - all which focus on the fact that happiness, and what happens to us, is largely influenced by the choices we make and our perceptions of things. They are non-preachy discussion starters that focus on making good choices and choosing to be happy...

Southerncooker: I loved Christy's first cookbook and love this one as well. I like that it's so affordable. This is simple southern cooking at it's best. Christy's recipes remind me of the kinds of recipes I grew up on and continue to cook for my family. I love to cook and on the weekends I enjoy more complicated and time consuming recipes and even sometimes tackle a gourmet recipe. During the work week I come home exhausted and just want to prepare a simple but filling recipe and this book gives me lots of those. I like that there are slow cooker options for many recipes included in this book too. There's nothing like coming home to a meal already prepared or mostly prepared and ready to dig into. If you enjoy reading your cookbooks as I do you'll also enjoy the little stories and inspirational messages Christy includes. I've already made the Chinese Chicken Salad (great to take for my lunches at work), Italian Beef Sandwiches (I used the slow cooker version and only had to stir fry my peppers and onions when I got home from work) and beef gravy. I love that she gives you the option and recipes to make some of the things homemade instead of using things like Jared gravy or canned soup. I'm not...

QueenB: This book is full of practical, easy to prepare foods that your family will love. Every recipe I have made that I've gotten from Christy has been a hit at my house with my kids and my husband. This is not a gourmet cookbook, and if that is what you are looking for - keep looking. This book is your go-to weeknight cookbook for when you need to get food on the table for your hungry family. This is a wonderful resource for working parents (don't want to leave out those dads that cook!) or those just getting started learning to cook. Christy shares lots of tips and helpful information, as well as sprinkling in bits of inspiring quotes and family stories. Anyone that reads SouthernPlate.com knows that Christy is a gifted story-teller as well as a wonderful cook. She also encourages us to make time to spend with our family around the dinner (supper) table because it is a great way to connect. This book is mostly recipes, but it's never JUST about the food with Christy! :) She is a real encourager - she wants to feed your soul and not just your belly.
I've already tried some of the recipes that are included because they have been on her website, but that's ok because it will be handy...

AKey: This is a good cookbook if you love southern food (and who doesn’t). The ingredients called for in these recipes are mostly everyday things in which you know what she is talking about. The directions are very clear also.
