Kelly F: I bought these for the filter intake on my shrimp aquarium when I started noticing my female cherry shrimps were becoming berried. Glad I did! Their babies are microscopic in the beginning and the filter would have sucked them right up! I didn't notice a huge reduction in suction in the beginning, but I've been using these for a few months now and my filter seems to not be working at its usual power despite taking everything apart and checking for clogs, but I'm not sure yet if these are to blame or not. The shape seems universal and its quite pliable so probably would fit on any kind of filter intake. My shrimp love to climb on it also. I periodically removed them and rinse them to keep them from gunking up, but eventually they get too far gone and wont come clean so i have to toss them and get a new one. Not a big deal since they are so cheap and it comes in a huge pack. I don't see myself running out any time soon, but I will definitely repurchase these when the time comes.

John P Koch: These sponges work really well. They fit my Fluval Aquaclear20 HOB filter intake perfectly. I added an intake extension as well to get the intake further down in the water. The coarseness of these sponges is just right. They help filter the water further and add additional media for beneficial bacteria to grow. Like that only one end of the sponge is open. Clean it ever 2nd or 3rd water change. These get 5 stars for performance, but only gave 4 stars overall because really didn't need 12 of them. Good value. How about 5 or 6 for a slightly lower price.

E.Liz.S: These are excellent sponges to improve the use of my aquarium filter. They seem to fit universally - I have a 60 gallon and a 5 gallon aquarium. The sponges fit both filters and work well. They’re easy to slide on, they stay put and prevent larger pieces of debris from entering the filter.
