TC Langford: I had never used henna before, so I was a little anxious about this experiment. I did it on my own without any professional guidance, but I couldn't have been happier with the results. I am a natural redhead with a copper tint. My worries about turning my hair burgundy purple or a carrot orange were calmed after a few days, once the color set in. Red shine returned to my hair without any weird overtones, and it stuck around for about 5 months before it began to fade back. My only warning is that this natural dye stains anything it comes into contact with; cover everything during the mixing and application processes, including your skin, floors, and bathroom counter. Quickly wipe up any spills.

EFEF: My original review is listed below. I wanted to update my second go at using this henna. The box comes with two powder packs and even though I have allot of hair and it is long, 1 pack worked fine. I again used beet juice but this time, I left the mixed product setting on the counter for 24 hours and not in the fridge. My hair dyed a copper auburn color this time. Covered my grays as well. I used beet juice again to get a more purple color but that did not happen. I read that if you keep dying your hair with henna it will continue to change color. So I will try henna one more time but with a different brand that claims to get more of a burgandy color.

I don't know how people got this to work. I used only beet juice to mix the henna. I let it sit in the fridge for a little over 24hrs. I applied evenly all over my head, starting at the roots. Waited over 4 hours and it was hard. I tried only using water to wash the henna out, that was impossible; it's so hard I needed conditioner to smooth everything out to get the remaining product out of my hair. No change, did not cover my gray hairs. Did nothing.

Honestly: I love this product. The instructions may not be all you need. I did quite a bit of online research. I prefer a brighter red and am starting with light brown hair, with a dash of grey here and there.
So here are some ideas that work:
1. Make sure you mix the powder the night before. I have been mixing mine in a gallon zip-lock bag. When it is time to use the henna, I snip off a corner to help me get to the roots. In other words, this device helps you get to the roots.
2. Brighter Red (for one packet): I mix in a tablespoon or two of turmeric, five cloves, juice from a medium size lemon, a splash of apple cider vinegar. The first time I used only vinegar, and it stripped my hair a bit. If you still need moisture, I add a little bit of water. So the trick is to not make it too wet, or it drips and becomes messy. My consistency is probably likened to tomato paste, a little thicker than ketchup.
3. Sleep with it in your hair. I keep it on for a long time. This helps it reach the roots. I add it to my hair as instructed above. I have long hair down to my mid back, and I twist the rest of in a bun. Lately, I have been using just one of the packets to do my...

AStroudAStroud: I rarely write any reviews but I have to brag on these non-toxic hair coloring product. I have been looking for a very long time for something non-toxic to color my hair. Here is my experience: I have fine and slightly curly (frizzy) hair that is now a natural salt & pepper color (more salt than pepper) and my husband has soft but not as fine hair that is now naturally all salt color.

My husband was very skeptical but as a cancer survivor had been urging me to find an alternative to the harsh coloring chemicals that we were previously using.

I used myself as the "guinea pig" and did my hair first. To give you some background, I did not color my hair for almost a year and did not use any conditioner when washing my hair for that same period. My hair didn't have any chemical build-up.

I purchased the following 3 products from Amazon and used the following recipe:
- 50 g  Hannah Natural 100% Pure Henna Powder, 100 Gram  (Red/Copper Color)
- 50 g  Hannah Natural 100% Pure Indigo Powder for Hair Dye, 100 Gram  (Black Color)
- 2 tablespoons  Hesh Herbal Amla /...

Ferne HebigFerne Hebig: I was quite pleased to find a chemical free hair dye. However I did some added research as it does have a strong wet hay mixed with dirt sort of smell. I used warm coffee instead of water, added 1/4 cup cocoa and just a pinch of cinnamon, ginger and about 1 tsp vanilla. I also added 1 tbsp lemon juice. It did the trick. I had no problem with the smell.

I do let the mixture sit overnight. I also find that if you follow the instructions to have it as a ketchup consistency it is too runny. Think more of a thick pudding.

I also have some significant grey sections in my hair, which is naturally so dark brown it is nearly black. This gives it a very healthy dark reddish brown Cocoa colour with the grey becoming lovely copper toned highlights. Many compliments from people on the colouring.

It does make a bit of a mess and is a bit drippy but it's well worth it.

I also have naturally curly hair and find that the henna hair dye actually reduces the amount of frizziness I usually have to deal with. It's a lot smoother even a few weeks after. There are a couple of horrible photos attached to attempt to show how the colour covers. The original...

UserUser: I was sceptical at first, I've been a henna head for 7 years but I've only used Jamila and other BAQ brands. To my surprise this stuff works great!
The henna does mix to be rather glue-y and clumpy, but I didn't use more that usual and it applies easy enough. It was a lot more sandy than what I'm used to but the dye itself released nicely and looks awesome on my hair. It comes with a shower cap that was useful. I have thick, bra strap length hair and one box covered my whole head. My hair is naturally brown with some greys.
Also, do NOT follow the instruction leaflet.
A few points as to why:
-henna applies the easiest on clean, wet hair. Not dry.
-mixture should be left for a few hours before applying, I leave mine overnight. This allows the dye to release, paste will be ready when there are little pools of red dye on it. Mix again and you're good to go.
-do NOT dry your hair with a hair dryer afterwards. Why would they tell you this?! AVOID heat, it will cause the henna to oxidize quicker and will leave you with a browner shade.

Overall it's a nice quality henna. Please keep carrying this Amazon!!

Ava Threecats: I had never used Henna before this product and i love it! Ive just ordered more. The smell is pretty mild and planty/earthy, not like perfumed chemical hairdyes. I did find that I really had to pay attention and paint it on (I used a cheap bristle paint brush) in small sections as it's difficult to go back in and check because this stuff isnt slick/slimy like reg hair dye, rather it is more of a paste and kind of matts. The initial color is quite bright, but it does deepen over a week. I didn't have any problems with it dyeing my tub or pillowcases. Oh, and apparently my husband likes redheads. ;)

Erin: My hair was turned a beautiful dark copper/red that goes perfectly with my skin tone! Is it magic or luck, I don't know. Left it in for 2.5 hours, used the entire contents generously for my thick, medium length hair. My hair is soft and the henna smell (so preferable to the usual harsh chemical dye smell) disappated naturally within a day. Careful though, it will stain your belongings and surfaces like any other dye. Was a hassle to wash out, though so worth it!
