Cmur: The product works, I use the black dye for years. I will never use “Just For Men” or anything like it because I am allergic to it, but this product does not do that. You will have to use it every 3 or 4 days. By the 5th day you can clearly see it wear off, but at least it will not break you out. Very good for facial hair.

bookmoth: I have used Henna for many years due to an allergy to chemical hair dyes. I use henna then indigo as a 2 step process but I thought id try the deep red henna for a change and to see if i liked it enough to grow the indigo out and use just henna on my greys, ( i dont). I mixed it with some lemon juice and warm water and left it to sit for the stain release before applying then leaving on for 4 hours. The colour is slightly darker than the usual bright copper orange of henna but it wasnt deep red on me and still had a copper orange hue even after a few days left to develop. It wasnt enough of a difference from the plain henna for me to want to use it again. I stress here this is only on my grey hair, the rest of my hair is too dark for it to show up, the colour may be completely different on non grey hair. The stain on this is very strong and completely covered all of my greys, take care when applying as it really does stain anything it comes into contact with and quickly. Rinsing took alot longer than usual and the reason i have given 4 stars is the colour bleeds. I have had many other henna from both this company and others and this is the only henna i have ever used that bleeds....

Yes, henna has a distinctive smell, I do like the earthy, natural smell (better than those chemicals for sure!).
Henna normally dyes orange, so this one has sone natural clay in it that gives the bright red shine. This additive does bleed when the hair is wet for a while - stains are washed out easily though and aren't permanent. I'll gladly take this little side effect for the amazing hair color im getting.
It is permanent. After about 3-4 months it may fade a bit to that natural, duller henna color, but that is permanent.
Best choice for an all-natural, healthy hair dye!!

First some background. I used to occasionally dye my hair in my teens and early twenties but then less and less - last time was over 2 years ago. Now in my early thirties, I am very rapidly getting gray post pregnancy, from a couple of strands to roughly 20% within just weeks (looks even more on the picture but that is where the gray is worst, it's not everywhere like this). I decided that I'm not ready to have a head full of gray hair. However, since my pregnancy and also the whole time after, I had a very sensitive scalp - so itchy and uncomfortable actually that I ditched commercial shampoos and conditioner a while ago.
