Mama BearMama Bear: I did a lot of research before deciding on this 10 gallon Marina tank. It was the tank kit that consistently showed up on internet reviews as one of the top tanks, especially for beginners. The filter is excellent and very quiet, the lighting is beautiful, and it's spacious digs for my son's Betta fish!
I love that it came with both the Fluval Cycle biological enhancer and the Fluval chlorine/water purifier. My son had of course, against my advice, ran out and bought the betta fish before the tank was even set up. I was nervous because the tank had not yet been "cycled," meaning that it had not been filled with water, had the filter running, and had the chance to cycle to develop good bacteria on it's own, which typically takes about 4-6 weeks. Because this kit came with the Fluval Cycle biological enhancer, I was able to add the Betta fish the same day as setting up the tank (which is not recommended if you can help it, but it luckily worked out ok in this instance). I also used Poland Spring water to fill the tank instead of my tap water, along with the provided chlorine purifier and biological enhancer.
The filter on this tank is excellent and I like that it has 3...

AshleyAshley: I was very stressed ordering glass online as I've previously had bad experience, but I was pleased to see it arrive intact.
I was suprised to see it had black silicone. I'm not sure if it mentioned it in the description anywhere and I missed it, but something to be aware of. Much better silicone job than I've seen on some other tank brands too.
I don't use the lid or light it came with as I already had some better ones, but they seem to be good quality for a start.
It came with an information booklet on fish keeping. I'm a bit beyond that at this point, but it did have some really good info for anyone getting into the hobby. A great place to start your research.

Phillip Paul: Great size, I should pay more attention to the operating instructions. Due too my error I lost four of my grand daughters fish.

Heather PHeather P: I recently purchased this tank, in the 20 gallon size, as an upgrade to my 5 gallon Koller tank. I love my smaller tank, but keeping up with the water parameters was getting frustrating, hence the upgrade. This tank is live planted and will house my male Betta and 1 mystery snail. I just set it up today, so I’ll be waiting for my heater to arrive and the tank to cycle before adding my fish and snail.
The kit was easy to set up. The slim filter fits nicely on the back wall of the tank and it is whisper quiet. So far, my only gripe about this kit is the lid. It’s not hinged, so you have to unplug it and remove it to service the tank. My smaller tank has a hinged lid and it’s definitely something I’d prefer on this one. Another issue with the lid is the lights are very bright. This may be able to be remedied by adding some sort of colored or tinted acetate over the light strip. That’ll be a job for another day. The final lid issue (for me) is the large open hole in the back to accommodate the filter and the smaller feeding hole towards the front. If you have jumpers or climbers, you’ll need to cover these up. I’ll be adding some screen material to the top of...

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: I purchased the five gallon size for Ernest Hemingway, who is my Betta Fish. I figured he must be getting bored in his three gallon and decided he needed an upgrade. I am very happy with this purchase. Everything works great and it arrived unscathed. As usual, Amazon delivery was wonderful. The only thing I don't like is that the light has only one setting and it is extremely bright. I can't help but think this must be hard on the fish and I wish I could tone down the brightness. Also, for a first time aquarium owner, it would be nice if the kit included gravel. No heater is included, but that is clear in the description so I purchased one separately. I also purchased a better quality thermometer and I just ordered a liner for the background. But overall, good value for the money. The same kit at our local pet store was $35 more.

Christine Van Rayn: Quiet and pretty. Plenty of room for fish, plants and decorations while still being small enough for the top of my dresser in my bedroom. Great for one Betta or several guppies.

Sanjay: The aquarium is nice, it comes with a filter. The only reason I took a star off of it is because the lid doesn’t clip. I would have like that. Other than that it looks nice with led lights.

J&JJ&J: 2/25/22 UPDATE: I'm deducting a couple stars because we're having more issues with vibration noise from the filter unit. Disassembled and cleaned out the impeller (which looked fine), but it will still occasionally get pretty loud. I had to wedge a little rubber gasket between the intake tube and the plastic overhang that dumps water back into the tank because they were rattling against each other. Also had to stick a little pad under the back cover which was similarly rattling. A little disappointed this has popped up after only a couple months of use. Right now a similar Top Fin kit is available at the local Petsmart for half the price (we bought a 10 gallon Top Fin kit, and the filter is very quiet). I would likely go with the Top Fin unit over this one if we did it over again.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Santa dropped this 5 gallon kit under our tree for our 4 and 7 year olds with no one in the house having experience keeping an aquarium and the wife insisting we don't get anything too big. Per the aquarium instructions, we filled it with water and placed it next to the basement drain for a couple days to test for leaks--no problems. Then we set up the filter, got our...

NikTzo: The light is pretty weak and even struggles to grow algae at a 8on4off8on4off cycle, so an upgrade would be nice because most people that will buy that probably do it since it includes a lid and maybe the filter thing. The filter thing I will probably never use, I took a 1,50$ bathroom accessory to hold things with suction cups that I stuck plants in like pothos and I guarantee you the massive roots are better than this thing. I added my powerhead flow and bubbles for massive algae and biofilm growth. An extra light aimed where the powerhead flow crashes into, and my Hillstream loaches are in heaven. I feel like for what it is, the price is ok but it could do with a better light, maybe +5 or +10watts. The fish flakes were nice, none of my inverts in my other tank care about algae wafers so they found a use there 😂 I saved most of the bacteria bottle to see new tanks since all of the contents are unknown, you never know which bacteria will do best in desired water parameters/temperatures, and they never give you useful info out of the box 😂 so save it and combine a tiny bit with others when you setup a new tank, makes your tank more reliable in the long run. The net was a...
