Debra G.: This is the fourth filter I have had to purchase for my 55 gallon tank and I believe we finally have a winner! Filter works great and is easy to assemble & disassemble. It easily accommodates whatever media you'd like to use. Adjustable flow is great too!

Serena: The media could not be loaded.  Update to original review — after about 3 weeks use, the pump is still working well and quiet, though the filtration media could be improved. The tank had a bit of an algae or fungal bloom where the filter sponge and media weren’t sufficiently handling. I’ve now replaced the included ‘stones’ with carbon-filled filter packets; this, along with a water change and treatment, has kept the tank crystal clear for over a month now.

Filter is being used in a 30gal bow front tank. Aesthetically, it’s not bad tucked away in the corner and a larger plant conceals a lot of it.
Noise level is comparable to other impeller type pumps, which is fairly quiet / low white noise. The primary noise is proportional to the amount of air that’s allowed to siphon in. Full flow with full air is somewhat loud as would be expected. The air control valve is somewhat lacking and I will probably replace it with a screw type valve. The audio in the video sounds louder than actual.
Overall satisfied with the pump and review will be updated once it’s been in use for a while and fish introduced.

Satisfied Aquarium Keeper: I got two of these, one for each of my 55-gallon tanks. I’ve always used whisper/tetra/similar hang-on-back filters, but I’ve had a lot of algae issues lately and wanted that nice clear water. Figured this would be nice as a clarifying filter in addition to my hob.

The flow on this is phenomenal- will make your tank a washing machine as long as you keep it cleaned out. I use filter floss in the top of each compartment and rinse it about once every two weeks. Haven’t had to replace sponge yet but it seems like any regular sponge media will work.

My main complaint is how hard it is to assemble and take apart. The tabs don’t seem to be a good method, I wish it was all twist based like inside. Not all the media fit in the bucket parts so it’s just awkward.

Overall I would definitely use this as a primary tank filter in the future, especially in a high flow tank. I would believe it if someone put a brand name sticker on this and charged double. Very satisfied
