Nairia: We own 4 flutes. We started with a Gemeinhardt and then upgraded to a better student flute that my daughter loved. When she outgrew it we bought an intermediate Yamaha that is her go to for concerts. However she is in symphonic and marching band and needed a flute that sounded good and that she could play comfortably without sacrificing quality sound. Most importantly we did not wanted her to use her $4,000 Yamaha for marching band.

I was a little hesitant ordering this flute online but let me tell you, this flute is amazing! The quality is great, it is an original Yamaha, plays beautifully, looks beautiful and feels perfect! It is still a pretty expensive flute for marching band in my opinion but perfect for symphonic. My daughter is very careful with it and she loves playing it so much that she has started to use it in church instead of her intermediate flute and at concerts.

I highly recommend this flute for everyone but specially for students who already play and need an upgrade for better, quality sound. Super happy with our purchase!

Within the first few minutes of her playing this flute over the other lower quality flute also bought from amazon, she noticed an immediate difference and was ecstatic. Guy T. Schafer: I waited until I had this flute for 6 months before writing this review. I took up the flute 8 months ago with a cheapie flute from the bay. After 2 months of self-study, I could not really play, but my interest was only increasing. So I got serious: bought this flute and got a music teacher to come to the house every week for an hour.
Now I know enough to give a competent review:

Everyone says you can't buy a flute in a poke; trials and techs and repairmen and teachers must all be involved. That's fine for someone who knows these people, but what if you're just starting out and want to get an instrument without this support?
This is where Yamaha shines. Go to any flute message board (I like the r/flute subreddit) and the ONLY flute anyone feels confident in suggesting buying blind is a Yamaha. Almost every thread goes like this: "What flute should I buy?" "Well, you have to get a team of 6 experts together to examine the offerings and xray your skull cavities while you play." "Can't I just pick up the Yamaha?" "Oh, sure, if you want to spend money."
I bought the YFL-222 blind because I'd had absolutely no flute training, but I made no misstep here. I LOVE this...

Whoop_1: The item is easy to tune, is fairly precise in key placement, and produces a good quality sound. A useful and reasonably priced item for a moderately experienced player.
