Chris D.: The Good
I read a lot of reviews and decided to roll the dice on the Xtreme Power 22". Un-be-lievable! I grew up trying to start one of those nightmare weed eaters, and expected to spend most of my first day just trying to get the saw to start. Never have I been so happy to be wrong! In for or five pulls the chainsaw fired right up, and started consistently on one or two pulls the rest of the day.

I took down nine old alder, around 12-18" diameter, and bucked a few so far. The saw kept power cutting at different tilts through felling, and had no trouble working with wood on the ground (I tend to come up from the bottom front edge of the log, then push tip forward to the opposite bottom edge, then finish by pulling up, to keep out of the dirt).

I'm a totally new to chainsaws, but it has enough power to work with the bar length. Of course it's not a performance saw, and you can lean on it enough to bog it down, but it runs well under it's own weight or with a little extra push. I left some fuel and bar oil overnight since I did a full weekend of work, and I did not notice any leaks the second morning, which is a small comfort for future transport....

B.F.: I needed a chainsaw for use around the house and this saw works great. The company seems to have abandoned the xtremepower brand because the saw I received was branded as a STARK. The saw seems to stay in line with needing some carb adjustments, but the jet screws don't have flathead slots to make adjustments. Not really a big deal to me but it would be nice to actually have the correct tool. I didn't have the first fire issues like some others had. Constructing is decent, the spark plug attachment is pretty chinsey. Instead of the crimp a standard wire would use, some thing metal could around the plug node and the ends pierce the insulation. I thought this was kinda cheap but I've run 5 tanks of gas through it and never had any issues. Also the mixing jug is junk. Great if you don't have a dedicated 40:1 jug, but the thing can't pour straight. The saw tool seems pretty sturdy and I haven't had any issues making quick adjustments in the woods. I think this is a great saw for the money all things considered, and definitely beats the extra few hundred bucks it would cost for the name brand saw.

Edit one year update - after a year of owning this saw and...

Sheila Copple: You know that justified feeling you get when you think you got a good deal? I stand arms crossed feeling great about this purchase. I have used this awesome none brand name chainsaw quite extensively on an oak grove clearing project. This machine flat out works! It starts on 3 or less pulls cold. It starts on one pull warm without fail. It has all the adjustments an amateur like me would want. I file sharpened the chain successfully. I was concerned I wouldn't be able to find a back-up chain but I did here on Amazon (TC-Home 22" 0.325 pitch LP .058 gauge 86 DL). I feel great about this machine. I think you will too. FYI, it doesn't come with a fancy case to store it in and the chain is probably not the best quality available but who cares at that price! I still get that manly feeling when I fire it up and slice through an oak tree like butter! You will too!
UPDATE: I've cut down and bucked over 100 oak trees with trunks between 5" & 13". I've even milled planks out of the trunks. This chainsaw still does the job without any issues at all. Don't question this purchase. Buy it!
UPDATE 2: Still going strong! So many cuts! Still starts on the first pull....

Ed: I've had the saw for almost 2 year cut tons of firewood but now the chain brake won't release and stark doesn't ship to Canada so If it can't be fixed it's pretty much garbage

W. McOstrich: Cuts like a charm and just the saw I needed for my cottage life up North. Light and easy to use with lotsa power when needed. Starts up at a pull and definitely a positive for rural life. Brrrrr! There she goes again.

Amazon Customer: Shipment package has arrived. Expected the additional 22in 86 Drive links universal chainsaw would be packaged with it. Apparently this is still en route?
Expect to run/use the chainsaw within the next two weeks.

John P. DeMas: Regrettably, although this chainsaw appears well made, it has an obvious design flaw in either the fuel system, ignition system or both. I am a Virgo an pay close attention to detail to ensure proper assembly, maintenance and operation, and followed the instructions enclosed with the saw to the letter, including 90 octane (Non-Ethanol) gasoline, special 2-cycle oil properly measured as specified, and high quality bar/chain oil. The engine started relatively hard following assembly, but several easy re-starts gave me some confidence. Upon it's first actual cutting use, it ran for less than 15 minutes of intermittent cutting, then died. After one hour in air conditioning, it re-started some reluctantly, ran for approximately five minutes and died again. Despite a lot of mechanical ability, I did not attempt to dis-assemble the saw to attempt to determine the exact problem. I will return it to Amazon, and buy a Stihl or Echo commercial grade saw. I don't need the aggravation of non-starting Chinese junk!

recent buyer: It started great. The spanner accessory provided with the saw was of a poor quality and it bent while trying to tighten the chain. Otherwise happy with it so far and have been able to cut a tree trunk of 12" diameter without any problem which had fallen during a recent storm.
