missjenifer: Had to replace our old unit of a different major brand, since it finally expired after 7 years. That was it's lifespan. Wasn't fond of the old unit; it was difficult to read and test, and I never really knew if it was working properly. Searched for a while for a new unit that lasted longer, was easy to install, easy to set up, easy to read and test, easy to replace batteries, was compact, was well reviewed by others, and one that looked good, since it'd be on a main living space room wall for many years. This unit fit the bill in every single area. I am very pleased with this unit and I feel safer now, since it reads well and functions so easily. Happy to have found this one that lasts 10 years and looks nice on my wall.

Swato: I needed smoke detectors for my new home and came across these. I was not looking for a combination unit but at this price point it was hard to pass this deal up. They are very sleek and compact and install very easy with the exception that they were difficult to get back on after mounting the base to your wall/ceiling. My recommendation is to place a piece of painters tape were the two sections meet before you take them apart for mounting.
