X-Sense 10-Year Battery-Powered Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector

JPC: Upon reading the manual once I got the detector, I learn that :
- It’s not a dual type fire detector; it’s a photoelectric sensor.
- The reason it’s expensive seems to be that you can couple it to other units to create a network. So the point in choosing this detector would be to get more than one. Which makes it even more expensive.

Rose Garden: ***MUST READ BEFORE YOU BUY***
I purchased 3 of these, 3 years ago. Recently 2 started beeping randomly and you can't make them stop. I moved them, still beeped. Put them outside maybe the sensor for the c02 is messed up... still beeped. And it's loud, screeching.. not a low battery beep. The ONLY way to make them stop, is to turn it off with the off switch on the back. Wich disables them. Makes them useless. They do state, they have a 10 year battery warrenty. I contacted amazon... wouldn't help me. Offered to have me return them and put on the original payment. (3 years ago I don't have that.card) so they told me to contact seller. I'm waiting for their reply. Long story short. Amazon doesn't honor their warrenty. So your SOL. Upuntill then they worked great! Dunno what happened though. BE mindful.

Robert Kim McKee: I had only a smoke detector on my second (bedroom) floor. After many years, the smoke quit. I went on-line and looked for ratings for smoke and CO. X-sense battery was listed as one of the top and was listed as "best bang for the buck". Amazon had the best price and was super fast to put it on my Front Porch. It was out of the wrapper imediately, and installed two days latter. Instructions were very easy. Directions were very clear for where and how to mount and not mount. Replacing my old smoke detector was effortless and painless.

F. Hu: I was hoping that it would constantly display the PPM so you could just glance at it to monitor it, but you have to push the button and it will display it for a minute. It also doesn't turn on the back light, making it hard to see. It also won't display below 30ppm or show the max level CO. But for a Co alarm you can forget about with a 10 year battery, this is the best deal.

Tipsy Gypsy: Easy set up and the theory of them is great. Thankfully I haven't set my house on fire or cut a gas line to find out if they work or not. I did burn some popcorn and it didn't set them off.......I guess if my house burns down I'll be protected by insurance for at least having them....

Gilbert BlosteinGilbert Blostein: Excellent product, I bought this specifically because it has a display in PPM rather than just a simple alarm. I installed this one in my shop and will be purchasing more units for our home. I know for a fact that it works because I ran the tractor in the shop the other day and it immediately started to display CO2 readings. Very easy to install, multifunctional - you can mount on ceiling or on a wall. I recommend this product, very good value and good piece of mind. I wish there was an option to have the backlight stay on, but I guess that would kill the battery prematurely. I'm definately willing to overlook the backlight issue if it'll last 10 years!
