Ali briggs: I don’t know why these are now discontinued they are the best wide fit walking boots ever, lightweight comfortable, waterproof. Wide fit ladies walking boots are so hard to find especially being a size 8, had to size up to a 9 as these were all that are left but with an insole fit OK.

C Lake: Have had 3 other Salomon’s that I wore to perfect smoothness so an upgrade was necessary. Got these (wide) based on reviews.
Pros
Very lightweight
Seems easy to clean
Gortex is always a plus

Cons
Clunky to walk and run in
Lots of friction on my bunion bone
Fits poorly to my feet.

I perhaps should have gone with a regular fit not
Wide and this shape of shoe Doesn’t feel ergonomic to my Feet.

Still a nice pair but I won’t use them often and if I find a new home for them they will be gifted.

I might need to be a brick and mortar girl

Ontario bookworm: I read reviews that this were a bit smaller than normal, so I sized up (from a 10.5 to 11), and I like I wide toe box so I ordered a wide fit, but I found that these shoes were true to their size and the 11 fit like an 11, thus too large for me.

The shoe is well made, and I liked the colours and the metal clasps (many makers are replacing them with plastic, WHICH I HATE, but this part of the design I loved), so in terms of material quality I really appreciate this design. However, I have a bit of osteoarthritis in my large toe, and there seems to be a lack of cushioning under the joint between the phalanges and the metatarsus, because it was painful to push off in these, compared to a Keen shoe, which seems to have a more cushion sole. It was unfortunately this lack of cushioning that will result in their return.

KJK: I've been wearing these boots daily for almost 1.5 years. They have been, and continue to be, wonderfully durable, comfortable, and supportive. This is the most money I've ever spent on a pair of boots, but it was well worth it, given how much I depend on them. On a daily basis, I use these boots when walking up and down a steep trail with lots of loose rocks and areas of loose, silty soil, and the traction is fantastic.

On my daily hike, there are also a lot of thorn bearing trees that drop thorny twigs (kiawe trees, if that rings a bell with any readers). These are vicious thorns that are often an inch or more long. - Not once has a thorn penetrated into the inside of the boot. The thorns certainly get stuck in the outsole and I remove them with pliers every day, but they haven't penetrated to the inside so far.

The boots are breathable and are also definitely water repellent. I've worn them in rainy conditions and my feet stay mostly dry. There was no break-in period required when they were new. - They were comfortable from the start. The all-around support of the boot has held steady through all this daily use: They haven't become worn or compressed on any areas,...

Joanna S. NicholsonJoanna S. Nicholson: I just returned from hiking in the Pisgah State Forest outside of Asheville ,NC. I am not a "hiker". I usually run, but we went hiking on this last trip. The longest I spent in these boots was 8 hours and they were super comfortable. I have an almost flat foot with a history of bad plantar fascitis. Everyone thinks that a flat foot needs a strong arch support, but it's not always true. My feet are flat but strong, and easily aggravated by things bunching under the arch. I didn't give these boots any break in time and for my flat foot, the orthotic included, irritated my foot and felt like a big ball on the wrong spot on my foot. So I swapped out the included orthotic and put in one that I use in my running shoes. My first short hike, I got a little scared because I wasn't used to a foot being really supported. As I walked, I realized that the muscles in my feet were working a bit differently but there was no impact under the arch and therefore the underside of my foot never got fascitis. The next hike, my feet were much more ready and that's when I really started enjoying the feel of these boots.
I'd read reviews that said the boots were not waterproof so I was really scared...
