C. Smith: I use these for wood carving with a rotary tool (a 1.6 amp Dremel with a flex shaft). I use fairly aggressive carbide cutters to remove large sections of wood and occasionally slip. Usually I'm able to get control before the cutter reaches my hand, but twice now these gloves have saved me from a trip to the ER. When the spinning rotary bit hits the glove, the material wraps around the bit and stops the rotary tool from spinning. The first time, the flex shaft actually snapped while the material of the gloves was essentially unscathed (although I did get a rug burn-type abrasion on my hand from the material spinning around so quickly before it stopped the bit, but that's way better than what would have happened without the glove). The second time the shaft didn't snap, but the bit stopped while the Dremel was still trying to spin (and making not-so-good sounds). At any rate, HIGHLY recommended if you wood carve with a rotary tool. I can't guarantee they would work the same with a higher powered tool like a Foredom but they work great with the Dremel.

Shauna Russ: I have not really found these to be very useful. I'm a disabled senior and I have a very sweet, young lady who comes to my home to help me with shopping, cleaning and a little cooking. Sadly, she's very nervous about knives so when I saw these, I ordered a pair for my house and a pair to send home with her. After I got the gloves, I realized I had not really thought things through. I believe the gloves work properly, you can be cut through them, but you'd have to do some wiggling around and jabbing the knife just right. Otherwise, I believe they provide a fair level of protection.

My problem is that if I'm using them for raw meat, they have to be well rinsed off and go into the laundry after that job. Then, they are not available until you've done the laundry. I think they would be essential for some jobs where you truly do take chances that can cut or scrape your fingers/hands (shredding veggies, shucking oysters?), then it's probably a good idea to use the gloves and you might not need them for several days anyway while you're waiting for the laundry to be completed. For myself, I've shredded veggies for years bare handed and seldom have a problem and I don't have the...

Jenny Tilshire: These things are great, even though I use them for a purpose that was probably never considered when designing them...I use them while washing my cat. These babies, plus a pair of the cut-resistant arm covers, have saved me from looking like a paper shredder attacked me. I put them on before I ever pick her up, and I keep them on until she's done and wrapped in the towel.
- they still have good grip while wet so she can't wriggle away from me
- I have enough tactile feeling through the gloves to sense what I'm touching
- the gloves aren't waterproof, which is good so I can feel how hot/cold the water is
- added (unintended) benefit - the rough texture creates a sort of scrubbing texture which helps lather up the soap and then rinse out the fur
If you're thinking about buying a pair for washing your own cat, keep in mind that these don't stop punctures...just cutting motions. Kitty claws are very good at trying to puncture you, and the gloves can't help with that. (But they're not meant to.) So you may get a few little pricks here and there, but it's not many and they don't get through very far. Also, afterward they take a while to dry. Don't put them in the dryer!...

Coffee Roaster: I was looking for a gift for my son, who is sometimes a little "extreme" in his cooking passion, and thought that it would be good for him to have a pair of WISLIFE Cut Resistant Gloves and that such gloves would be a great gift idea. I had never really had any thought of cut resistant gloves before and tried to read up a little on just how well they worked. Unlike several of the reviews I read, my review is not based on anything but the quality of the product and it's integrity to the claims made for it. I purchased the gloves for my son and about two weeks later, ordered another pair for myself.

I love cooking in the kitchen now that I'm retired. But there have been many times when I've grabbed a knife the wrong way or used a mandoline in such a way that it was inevitable for an accident to happen. The WISLIFE gloves are perfect for the job. I rarely wear them both at the same time, but will put one on the hand that is vulnerable to getting cut accidentally. With the pair of gloves, I actually have a spare glove, should it be needed, since the gloves will fit either hand. Now I can use the mandoline or the special bread knife I have that can sometimes be gripped in such a...
