John Afendoulis: We are having fun with these but not only fun, they are functional to mommy and daddy. We have given them to our boys for when they play in the neighborhood with their friends. (my biggest problem is making sure they keep them close to them so they can hear if I call them.) They advertise for 3, 4... year olds. My youngest is 9, and he can use the unit once I set it up. I had to tell them not to change the channel, etc, because they will not be able to communicate with the other walkie-talkies. So they do require someone older to set them up, and the user needs to be trained not to change the settings. (I don't know if a 3, 4, 5, 6 year old can do that. But each child is different.) Additionally, I use rechargeable batteries. Their battery life is probably a little shorter than non-rechargeables, but if the kids accidentally forget to turn the units off, the batteries go down really quick. Rechargeable are more economical.

styree: We bought these so the kids could communicate with us from their bedrooms at night, to limit the amount of times they are getting out of bed and to help curb night time fears of being away from Mom & Dad. They have worked great for that purpose. They kids also love using them during the day, and we no longer have to yell up the stairs to get their attention. We just call them on the walker talkies. They have also been nice to have outside. We have a large yard and we have been able to chat on the walkies from opposite sides of the yard. One downside is one walkie already doesn’t work because of the battery coming out at times, so we will have to talk to the manufacturer or return and replace, but the other 4 work well. Overall these have been great and they are also customizable so we can remove sounds we don’t like or change them.

Stacey Kirk: I did like the walkie talkies. We were able to use them on our cruise but it is not as long range as you would think. I bought them because we travel with younger children and they can use them to communicate with the adults in the event that they get lost, or they need help, or spent the night in a different room and wanted to come back to original room on cruise. They say long range but it really only work when we are less than 1 mile from each other. Any further than that then we could not communicate. On a large ship we need them to go at least 3 to 5 mile range but they did not work if we were more then a mile away from each other.

Neecy89: Pros: Sound clarity, ease of use for kids 5 yrs of age, flashlight feature, ability to lock on channel, good holding size for children (5+) and adults, battery life seems reasonable so far (frequently used over 3 days - often left on and bars still full but this is with use of energizer max life batteries - dollar store brand batteries likely to die quickly)

Sorta Cons (possibly attributed to human error): Kids werent able to use the lanyards as much as they wanted because we often needed to access the batteries. Fully functional batteries in place but walkies sometimes wouldn't turn on with power button so we figured out to open the back and push them down or roll them a little then it suddenly turns on and works fine.

Also be cautious of other frequencies. If you do not lock it, the children will scroll to other stations and talk to a trucker. This of course can be remedied with assuring you lock it in.

Overall Recommendation: I like these and would purchase again. Not sure of distance quality but using them from different rooms at a resort worked fine. These are good for family trips if kids or even adults want to stay connected if in different rooms
