The wire isn't flexible like a hotwire tool so the space in between the wire and metal only allows about 4 inches to pass through fine for small projects.
If you go slowly you won't break the wire like some reviewers have had issues with.
Can't beat the price.

Amazon-Kunde: Für unsere Terrarien bauen wir die Rückwände und Plattformen selber aus Styropor. Bislang haben wir dafür immer ein Cuttermesser verwendet, was eine ziemliche Krümelei und krude Kanten bedeutet hat.

Nun haben wir diesen günstigen Schneider ausprobiert - und sind begeistert! Saubere Schnitte und Kanten, kein Gekrümel, das Gerät ist sehr präzise und schneidet wie durch Butter. Kanten und kleinere Platten schneiden wir mit dem Draht, Löcher in große Platten mit der Lanze. Klappt einwandfrei. Auch Modellieren hinterher ist möglich.

An der Lanze hat am Arbeitsende geschmolzener und wieder erhärteter Styropor geklebt. Haben wir problemlos reinigen können, indem wir sie noch einmal erhitzt haben und dann rundum zügig an einem Zewa abgestriffen haben.

Simon: Colis récupéré en relais amazon, boite du produit deja ouverte avec une simple etiquette d'envoi collee dessus, le produit en lui meme est extrêmement fragile, les finitions font tres cheap et la connectivité electrique fait un peu peur. Heureusement un cable de rechange et un feutre permanent sont fournis avec mais le produit en lui meme permet de se dire que la prochaine fois on en prendra un plus cher.

Sinon a part tous ses defauts il fait a peu pret ce que l'on veut

Doreen Rose: Don't waste your money. I purchased this product and it didn't seem to heat up right. I could cut the styrofoam, but it was taking forever. I found that it must not have been getting hot enough as it should of cut through like butter. I exchanged it and tried using it again and at first I was excited as it was cutting right through just like it should and then all of a sudden it wouldn't move any further. Appears to have cooled off and after a few minutes it did the same thing again. I started trying to press it into the handle as I used it to see if that would help and at first it seemed like it did, but not for long. After about the 4th time, it just never got hot again. I decided to try the other attachments and neither of them got hot at all, not even warm. There is some issue with the connections. Totally disappointed and am purchasing another brand so I can get my project finished.

futures: I had a lot styrofoam coolers that I needed to get rid of. After making a stab at trying to build a diy wire cutter, I decided to try the Winons product. It worked flawlessly for about 15 minutes and quit ... cheaply made piece of garbage ... I thought. After checking my electrical connection, I realized that I had pulled the wire cutter out from its handle just enough to break the connection. Now ... after a couple of hours of use ... the tool works flawlessly as my 1st impression led me to believe. I also found that using a little steel wool to keep the wire clean will improve the tool's performance. For Winons ... I wish you had a tool with a 12 inch cutting depth instead of a max of about 4 inches.
