WiMiUS K3 4K Video Projector with 5G WiFi Capability

TimothyTimothy: Purchased this projector hoping to get a decent projector for a good price. While my expectations were hopeful, it was another let down. The video looks decent if the video being displayed is simple and doesn't have a lot of gamma correction in it (think shadow gradients in a murky scene), but otherwise the picture is less than stellar. Now this is all presuming you can actually get the video to work in the fist place. This projector isn't one that can be used for playing any copy protected video. If you Miracast from an iPhone or iPad or other Apple device, the project will have sound, but no video on certain apps like Netflix and Hulu. You can see the menu, but attempting to play it, the video will be blank. However, from Disney+, you at least get a warning that states the projector doesn't support HDCP protocol, so it won't work.

If you switch over to Android, using either Miracast or HDMI input, the video works. Using HDMI input is better than Miracast. Using Miracast, there are frequent pauses and delays in the audio, which does play thru the projector's speakers though. If you have a good phone with good speakers, this would be the better way to use this...

IJIJ: The media could not be loaded.  I recently bought WiMiUS K3. Without many online reviews or YouTube videos, I basically roll the dice with this projector after extensively researching and comparing other projectors in this price range.

My primary use is weekend movie theater experience with family while we still figure out when we will be comfortable going back to the movie theaters again. As such my budget was no more than $300 (interestingly it is slightly less than what I spent at theaters last year).

My goal was to get something which can play most of my Blu-ray discs, 99% of them are 1080P, good enough contrast ratio and brightness so we can watch during day time (in basement).

The WiMiUS K3 hit all three requirements, it comes with native support for 1080P, 7200 Lumens and 10000:1 contrast ratio. I do not have any testing gear to validate any of this but I let you be the judge of the pictures and video I have uploaded. The picture quality is really great and it is BRIGHT!

Zachary HollenbeakZachary Hollenbeak: I got the K3 with a coupon for $220. Very affordable price, decent picture and brightness. It is physically larger than I was expecting. I have another LED projector and it's like a toy it's so small. This projector is much more substantial. 2 HDMI ports.
The setup instructions could have been more clear, but it didn't take long to get it connected to my WiFi network.
- USB iOS support was perfect. No issues. Plug in the lightning cable into the phone, plug the USB end into the projector. Switch the input, done.
- WiFi 'screen mirroring' took more effort. After connecting and streaming some movies over the Plex app, it would hang trying to play some files. Others seemed to play okay. I looked at my router to identify the Wimius device IP address, and then entered the IP address into my iOS browser (safari) and authenticated. I switched the network setting from 2.4G to 5G, and then connected to my 5G network. This made a significant improvement in performance and iOS 'screen mirroring' works good now. iOS is still on the 2.4G network.
