Whistler Waterproof Roof Top Cargo Carrier Bag – Keep Your Belongings Safe and Dry During Road Trips

Jo: This bag was a life saver and helped with moving large items outside the car. Problem was the zipper on the bag stopped working after a few uses. Then the straps were CONSTANTLY slipping… I’m talking they’re waxed and not good quality. We had to step off of the highway and stop by a Home Depot to grab rope as these were coming undone on the road!!! How unsafe is that! The last thing you want to worry about is your bag flying off the car and causing an accident. I wouldn’t recommend this item for safety purposes

Jesse Brown: I got this for a >600km camping trip and it worked perfectly. It allowed me to bring everything my family and I needed for a week-long trip in my Hyundai Elantra with no roof rack. We didn't get any rain so I can't speak to how weatherproof the bag is, but the straps were solid and the bag didn't move, even at highway speeds. Really glad I got it for the trip.

SBells: 1 pro: bag is great. Good size and so far the bag does what we need

Major con: the buckles do not work! First time of using they were fine, easy to use and kept its strength and no slippage. Second use however (return journey), the buckles kept slipping. We followed instructions yet the buckle would not hold. Ended up having to tie a knot in the strap. So major health and safety concerns with this buckle strap.

Contact the seller customer service as per instructions included in package to ask for guidance or replacement buckles. Received single sentence response asking if we were using buckles correctly. I confirmed yes and that we followed guidance notes. No response. Chased. No response.

The bag is useless if it cannot be held on to the roof with the straps and buckle. So although the bag itself is good, we are unable to actually use it with the buckles provided. Really poor customer service experience in that there has been none! Do not recommend this company

tina davis: We've used this for two camping trips this year and we have managed to get sooooo much in the bag saving room in the car for everyone to sit comfortably. (we have a Nissan note)
From our last trip (with 6 people and a dog) we had three tables, 6 sleeping bags, two inflatable sofas, two double and one single mattress, parasol, wind breaker, two camping stoves, an IKEA bag of clothes, two camping chairs and still had room!
Set up is easy chuck up on the car, open wide, pack, and zip. To secure you thread the straps through the handle straps and join them in the car through the open doors.
We drove motorway and B roads, not a problem, bag is waterproof, the only thing we noticed is that if it rains overnight while it's on the car it does seep into the car slightly where its squeezing the rubber, and I mean slightly, felt a few drips and that's it.
Packs down small too so much better than a box for storage when not needed.
Other campers were very impressed and kept coming over to ask about it, so all round blood brilliant, best thing I've invested in for camping (with the exception of the tent) in years. Reasonable price and defiantly recommended.

Pcrank: The ease of use was pretty great. We were moving across the country and were looking to put some of our luggage on the roof to fit everything. The bag held up okay through the trip, dealing with in rain across multiple states and days. But, by the end there was significant wear on the bag and some of the seams were tearing. I do not think this is entirely due to the manufacturer. I think there was some user error on my part when aligning the suitcases. If the bag isn't fully stuffed, make sure the straps go across the cargo and that each cargo piece is tightly cinched in place.

Overall, it did the job. As some who is tall and sits higher in the car, the straps in the car were a bit bothersome. Additionally, taking it off and re-doing the roof bag every day on a 9 day roadtrip was tiresome. That's not an issue with the bag, but more of an issue with any softshell roof bag versus a hardshell.

Mandy R.: Thus was great on recent camping trip. Didn't shift at all during journey and felt very secure. We secured with straps through car (as no roof rails) which isxwhy we bought this particular bag. Only down side was there was some rain water leakage into car as straps pulled on rubber door seals however we did drive through torrential rain. Everything stored inside bag was bone dry though!

Amazon Customer: Just used this for our family vacation, traveled almost 2k miles, and it worked splendidly. Didn't run into heavy rain just light, but no issues with water inside. Fit our carrier perfectly and it is quite large. We use hard sided luggage so the soft sides weren't an issue. Material feels nice and sturdy, thicker than our much older soft rooftop carrier. Only used once so far, but still looks like new. Came faster than I expected. Folds up for easy storage. Great purchase.

Corey R. Smith: I bought this to put on top of a little Mitsubishi Lancer when I moved from Illinois to Ontario. That little car didn't have a ton of space and I needed to carry as much as I could in one go. This bag was a lifesaver. Absolutely drove through a ton of rain and sleet and not a single drop of water made it inside this bag. The whole thing seems like it should slide right off the roof of your car, but the grip mat that you place underneath the bag absolutely holds it in place, even at high speeds on the highways.

One thing to know, though, is that because the nylon straps come inside your car across the window frames, they will wick water into your car cabin when it's raining. So the bag will stay dry, but you'll get little drops of water wicking in at the center of your cabin. I suggest wrapping the middle of the straps with a soft cloth and keeping an eye on them. It's not too bad, but something I hadn't thought of when I bought it.

Rachelet3Rachelet3: Let me start by saying my vehicle seats 8 and it has a way to add a roof rack but I didn’t want to spend the extra money on top of buying something to connect to the roof rack to hold our things. I finally made the move with my three children, my two nieces, my cat and my dog from CA to Texas. We sold our home in April and my husband went with his vehicle and another trip with the moving truck in Feb and April. I had stayed in CA until I had finished up some loose ends and in August I took what “little I had lived with left” um no. It ended up being 8 pieces of luggage, the animals, the kids, bedding items etc! I looked on amazon to find the cheapest way to make space and to pray the items got there and didn’t fly off. I drove to Arizona from CA with just my kids and picked up my nieces and got there late sorry the pictures are dark. We strapped the roof bag on and it held tight. No bad weather and rain or anything but as said in other reviews did hear a little wind as we drove. Nothing too crazy though. It held, no rips and the speed limit from AZ and in Texas is all 75-80mph. Never got loose, never moved and didn’t cause any damage or marks to my roof. Was hoping it...

Josh: Had to go across the country and didn’t want to get a hitch and bring a trailer so I settled for this roof bag. I was a little worried someone would steal from it during my stops but luckily no one did. The zippers have big enough holes to put a standard lock through it which was nice.

Traveled from mid California to central Florida over 4 days. This bag was amazing. It fit quite a bit that it freed up space in the car. The bag is water proof and got through the rain we ran into, though I noticed there was some condensation, I’m assuming it was more from the temperature changes and moisture in the air.

Overall this bag was amazing. Plenty of room to store stuff. Fits on the car very well. 0 problems and no adjustments were needed in our 3,000+ mile journey. Load up, zip up, strap down and you’re on your way.
