I was moving back to the lower 48 from Alaska, and I was driving the whole way (2500miles). I basically sold everything I could, shipped a lot of boxes, but still had such a decent amount to bring down, and since I was travelling with my two dogs, they of course took up a lot of the back of my car. I debated about more expensive options like a hitch, or roof rack, but I came upon this listing, and after reading so many wonderful reviews, I decided to take the risk on it, and let me tell you, IT WAS SO WORTH IT. It fit so much of my things, and it held up fabulously over a 3 day long car trip, with one of those days being me driving for 20+ hours straight. It shifted only slightly during the whole trip, but I was able to have a gas station attendant help move it back up for me. My roof was not damaged at all, but I did have a thick yoga mat as a buffer in between. I did put things in plastic bags to help weather proof them more as I heard some concerns about water leaking in, which is fair because it's not an air locked hard container, but even then, I drove through wild fires, rain, and more, and none of my items felt damaged...

Wendy: I really was glad I purchased this slightly higher price bag. It is large and very sturdy. There were plenty of straps to old the bag on the car. We have a Subaru Impreza and it was plenty big. I have had other bags I spent about 20.00 less but they were really flimsy. This should last for a long time. The fabric was thick and water proof. I especially like the Velcro tabs at the end of the straps that let you tie down straps. You didn’t have to listen to straps slapping the roof or windows. We put enough luggage for two weeks and could have fit more in the bag.

Marti DoddMarti Dodd: When I tell you this thing MASSIVELY exceeded my expectations, even that wouldn't be doing it justice. I was moving from California to Kentucky with a Honda Civic and knew that although I was selling my furniture, I still wanted all my decor, clothes, shoes, mirrors, lamps, pillows, etc. I was sure this would help me get the must haves, but assumed I wouldn't be able to keep everything I wanted. I WAS WRONG. It's huge. I vacuum sealed all my clothes, pillows, blankets and put it all in the top and even had room for two boxes of decor.
So the size exceeded my expectations, but I was confident that I'd had to tighten or readjust this huge thing on the top of my car every few hours. I MADE IT TO CALIFORNIA TO KENTUCKY AND DIDN'T HAVE TO TOUCH IT ONCE. Once I got it in my new place, everything was in perfect condition.
I truly do not have the words to describe how wonderful this items is. I didn't even know something like this existed and now I just want everyone to know about it!

SHARON E.: I bought this because I’m going to be some extensive traveling in North America over the next 2 years; but the first thing I had to do was make an 1100 plus mile trip down to Central Florida to pick up a new small camper I’ll be towing with my CUV. I drive decent into the path of a major tropical depression that lasted several states… and to my surprise there was MINIMAL water just inside the very front of the cargo bag. No cargo bag can ever be 100 % watertight like a hard shell… and I did PLAN for this bag to not live up to its description by putting anything I was worried about inside lawn n leaf bags just in case. Also, I did not have this completely full, which basically allowed for golds in the side walls, which caught the heavy rain. The good news: Only I opened it to sun n air, it dries rapidly. None of my belongings had any damage whatsoever.
But more than that: I’d you use this with your cars’ side rails( NOT talking cross rails, which would elevate that bag) you CANNOT hear this thing. It comes with cleverly placed Velcro flaps that you fold up the excess straps into and secure tightly, so NO straps flapping in the wind either. If you follow directions...

D. J.: A great choice to add much needed cargo space. Drove mine on SUV roof for a week trip across Canada . Water and elements proof and maintains shape . I brought along several rolls of strong tape to resecure the flapping ends of tie downs that come with unit, as they will work loose in the wind. The tie down actual clamps proved reliable.

Amazon Customer: We used it for a three-day road trip, and had "0" drama!
Contents were dry after a moderate rainstorm. Absolutely no shifting of the load. Filling/unloading was a bit awkward, but that was expected. (Dodge vans are quite high.)
This is a high quality, well designed, heavy duty, durable product.
Comments:
We put all items that could be water damaged into large garbage bags--this was unnecessary but cheap insurance, and made loading unloading easier. Pro-tip, use clear lawn & leave garbage bags so you know where things are.
Loading/unloading was made easier with a three-step folding ladder. One more item to pack!
Best of all!!! A lot of the load was one-way, so we were able to take the bag off of the roof for the return trip.
Advantages compared to clam-shell units:
- less expensive.
- larger capacity.
- easier to put on and take of of vehicle.
- not a semi-permanent installation. (More practical if you have a garage to fit into.)
- easy to store unit when not in use.
Disadvantages:
- might scuff roof (ours did not, at all).
- less "classy" looking.
In summary:
- great for occasional use!

Amazon Customer: Very good quality product!
Pricy, but I would recommend it, looks like it's made to last forever!
During our trip it was no rain, so I can't tell as how good it's resist to the water.
On the highways it was no problems at all.
The bag bag was attached to the roof with 4 hooks and we used a roof mat too.
Simply as is, this Cargo Carrier Bag have made our trip possible again!
Thanks to the manufacturer for the great quality product!

Steve: I bought this to act as a theft deterrent while camping. I put an inflatable kayak, a Blackstone grill, a battery based generator and a few other things into this bag. I then locked it with the small TSA lock they provided, then I locked the lock to another cable & padlock that was attached to the trucks tie downs. Of course there are multiple ways a determined thief could still steal from me (a sharp knife comes to mind), but I figured this would put off the casual thief.
The quality of this bag is off the charts. People say it's not waterproof, but I don't believe it for a minute. The zipper, the part most likely to break, seems to be of industrial quality, with a rubber seal on each side of the teeth. It has a flap that folds over the zipper. It is made of a canvas-like material that is very thick and seems it would be resilient to water leakage.
I will use this later as a roof rack if I decide to travel long distances with my Highlander, the roof rack is set up nicely already to use such a system. I don't know if it can be used on my smaller EV because I'm not going to break through the door seals and it has a solid roof rack that requires cross bars (an...
