This 100% waterproof large hitch tray cargo carrier bag measures 59" x 24" x 24" (20 Cu Ft) and comes with a storage bag for added convenience. Crafted with the highest build quality and designed for maximum durability, the Whistler Hitch Bag is the perfect solution for your vehicle cargo carrier needs.Jo: This bag was a life saver and helped with moving large items outside the car. Problem was the zipper on the bag stopped working after a few uses. Then the straps were CONSTANTLY slipping… I’m talking they’re waxed and not good quality. We had to step off of the highway and stop by a Home Depot to grab rope as these were coming undone on the road!!! How unsafe is that! The last thing you want to worry about is your bag flying off the car and causing an accident. I wouldn’t recommend this item for safety purposes

mkvanmkvan: I purchased this for a trip out west. We definitely needed the extra space since we had four adults with luggage (3 totes) and 1 carry on size suitcase, 2 coolers and a food tote. As suggested by another reviewer, my husband made a PVC frame for inside the hitch bag. It worked awesome to keep everything dry and we went through several rain storms. Three totes fit perfectly inside the carrier, along with other items. Everything remained dry! The only downside is once the hitch bag is zipper closed, it has velcro closures to keep the flap over the zipper more secure. Every one of those velcro attachments came off. Everything remained dry so it may be just extra protection for the zipper. Granted in 15 days we changed locations 11 times, so we were in and out a lot. Overall I would recommend, especially for us, the additional frame made it easier to use.

Jesse Brown: I got this for a >600km camping trip and it worked perfectly. It allowed me to bring everything my family and I needed for a week-long trip in my Hyundai Elantra with no roof rack. We didn't get any rain so I can't speak to how weatherproof the bag is, but the straps were solid and the bag didn't move, even at highway speeds. Really glad I got it for the trip.

SBells: 1 pro: bag is great. Good size and so far the bag does what we need
Major con: the buckles do not work! First time of using they were fine, easy to use and kept its strength and no slippage. Second use however (return journey), the buckles kept slipping. We followed instructions yet the buckle would not hold. Ended up having to tie a knot in the strap. So major health and safety concerns with this buckle strap.
Contact the seller customer service as per instructions included in package to ask for guidance or replacement buckles. Received single sentence response asking if we were using buckles correctly. I confirmed yes and that we followed guidance notes. No response. Chased. No response.
The bag is useless if it cannot be held on to the roof with the straps and buckle. So although the bag itself is good, we are unable to actually use it with the buckles provided. Really poor customer service experience in that there has been none! Do not recommend this company

tina davis: We've used this for two camping trips this year and we have managed to get sooooo much in the bag saving room in the car for everyone to sit comfortably. (we have a Nissan note)
From our last trip (with 6 people and a dog) we had three tables, 6 sleeping bags, two inflatable sofas, two double and one single mattress, parasol, wind breaker, two camping stoves, an IKEA bag of clothes, two camping chairs and still had room!
Set up is easy chuck up on the car, open wide, pack, and zip. To secure you thread the straps through the handle straps and join them in the car through the open doors.
We drove motorway and B roads, not a problem, bag is waterproof, the only thing we noticed is that if it rains overnight while it's on the car it does seep into the car slightly where its squeezing the rubber, and I mean slightly, felt a few drips and that's it.
Packs down small too so much better than a box for storage when not needed.
Other campers were very impressed and kept coming over to ask about it, so all round blood brilliant, best thing I've invested in for camping (with the exception of the tent) in years. Reasonable price and defiantly recommended.

Mandy R.: Thus was great on recent camping trip. Didn't shift at all during journey and felt very secure. We secured with straps through car (as no roof rails) which isxwhy we bought this particular bag. Only down side was there was some rain water leakage into car as straps pulled on rubber door seals however we did drive through torrential rain. Everything stored inside bag was bone dry though!

Jeff Barry: This is actually waterproof. Sat on the roof for over 2 hours of heavy rain, not even moisture got in.
Ok, so to secure this your gonna want to keep logo towards the front of the car. You do want to try and fill the bag to keep it somewhat taunt. used a boogie board in the bag on top of my stuff to help secure and provide aerodynamics, and so not to crush my stuff. This helps in securing ratchet straps too. For waterproofing, make sure zippers are kept at end of zipper row after zipped, on side back, tucked in the corner.. like where the zipper ends, and flaps are down covering zipper rows. This will keep it waterproof.
To secure I bought ratcheting straps. (for cars without roof rack like me) The ones that come with it (someone opened the box, maybe UPS? and I never got straps.) That's ok as I would recommend real ratcheting straps. Not worth losing everything on the road.
1) The first thing is to lay down the mat on the roof. Then pack the bag, so the front of the bag is lower than the back of the bag. The lay down your boogie board, or whatever long, flat, hard "board" you have, place on top of your stuff in the bag. This will allow the ratchet straps to...

jessica mvl: My family of for used this on a 3,000-mile road trip with our Prius. It held five pieces of luggage and some various other items. We bought a small luggage padlock to keep it more secure which easily fit through the zipper holes. Everything was kept dry and safe. No need for a roof rack!
It comes with a rubber mat that you put on the roof. Then you put the bag on that, fill it up, zip it shut, and use the fabric straps it comes with to secure it to the vehicle. The straps are very secure and didn't skip out of their metal clasps at all. The entire bag shifted towards the back of the car a few times and I had to stop and tighten the straps but that was completely due to natural shifting of the contents of the bag and didn't cause any problems.
The bag is tapered so it is taller in the back than it is in the front. My car's has mileage decreased by about 15-20 mpg any time the bag was on the car because it adds a good amount of wind resistance. I suggest doing a test pack on your floor and figure out the best arrangement so you don't have to stand on your tippy toes while it's on your car's roof.
By the end of our road trip the rubber mat began disintegrating,...

Ross J. Patti: The sun exposure after 10 days of road trip vacation (7 days of use on top of the car), the sun had melted the velcro flaps to one side. However, the velcro was not critical to protect the cargo. Rain did not enter the space.
The bag is not aerodynamic, and bugs will accumulate their death sentence against the front side of your blunt cargo space.
A small gap in the front of the cargo cargo carrier base led to wind cramming the soft protective layer as a wad towards the back. But, after identifying this issue and repacking objects to keep a tighter connection prevented further issues.
