Jorge: My second purchase of this machete, my brother took my last one so I wanted to get a new one to replace. Everything is good with the machete other than the cadmium cancer warning - Not sure what that is about and what precautions I would need to take to not get cancer from a machete. Looks tough though!

Steve M.: For the price doesn't cover how happy I was with this tool especially for basic and intermediate machete jobs it is a beast and design is perfectly engineered to make it comfy and light feeling but also heavy enough to handle any limb or tree smaller than a softball in diameter and more. Anyone who uses any machete knows that ur hands take a toll due to friction and grip but handle is rather comfortable and appropriate for heavy duty use with precise balance and only warning I would give is that the smaller the hand the more trouble u will have with handle size but anyone over teenage male will be non applicable to handle issues. Now I'm about to ride an alligator on bath salts into the domicile of my enemies with the chupacabra like fierceness of a pterodactyl with a Vicodin problem and a new girlfriend that only likes dootlong or larger variety hotdogs and not ballparks. MELISSA: I have beat this thing much more than I shouldve been able to given the price paid for it. Im a woman and do have small hands, so i dont expect every thing i buy to suit me as the minority, the reason why I didnt hit on the ergonomics. It DOES otherwise feel comfortable. I get the requisite blister but that's just work. I like durable and heavy with some ass to it and this has just that! Ive hacked saplings, ive cleared limbs in one or two swings while someone else was still buzzing away with a power tool. Ive cleared ground level overgrowth with the efficiency of a weed whacker, slamming into unseen rocks. Hurt me a helluva lot more than it did the blade. Not even dings. Knicks maybe? And still kept going. The hook and saw are legit as well. Handy features when clearing nonsense by hand.
It comes with an edge but not much (not uncommon to receive like this if shipped). I had a professional edge put on it. Year in and still dont *need* to redo it but I'll treat it like car maintenance lol. For what it's worth, when i took it to the industrial sharpener, they loved it! Heavy single piece, it aint gonna bust apart on ya. They likened it to a nice thick lawn mower blade...

Amazon Customer: I read some of the reviews before buying the Whetstone Brute Machete. There were some concerns about it not arriving sharp. The one I received was fairly sharp but a few quick passes with a sharpener like the ones you use on chef's knives and the blade felt fairly sharp. The curve half way down the blade was a bit of a trick but not that bad. I didn't buy it to shave with.
I took it outside and tried it on some vines at the back of my property and was quite surprised. There are clusters of bushes and vines, three or four in a group ranging in diameter from the diameter of my little finger to the diameter of my thumb. Using a backhand stroke, i stepped towards the first cluster, bent over, and let her rip, striking the cluster of three vines about three inches off the ground with the end part of the blade.
The Brute went through these vines so easily I barely felt them. In fact, the follow through of my backhand slash twisted me around 90 degrees, making me look like Babe Ruth swinging for the fences. If I had not been wearing winter gloves I think the Machete would have come out of my hand, confirming one reviewer's negative comment about the handle. It could use a...
