D. Pendleton: To be honest, I was pretty lousy at grilling, even though I can hold my own in the kitchen. Everything I grilled was usually overdone. This changed all that and my steaks and pork loins turn out perfectly, or at least perfect for me. Using the app on my Apple watch means I don't have to stand around the grill waiting for things to burn.

Cons:
Once installed can only be used with your Weber grill
Braided cord on probes seems to want to unbraid after only a few uses
App isn’t the most intuitive to use as first

I’ve installed this on my Weber Genesis II LX GS4. Installation was quick and easy. So far all the sensors and probes seem accurate. I’ve had no issues with connecting to my iPhone 12 via Bluetooth. I do wish that installation wasn’t semi permanent so that the sending unit could be used inside the house as well. But it does complement my grill nicely!

David H.: UPDATE: I sent a note to Weber customer service about this and they sent me a replacement unit. The replacement does not seem to have this problem. It works fine and never unexpectedly disconnects any longer. Upgraded my rating from 3 to 5.

I really want to like this device. It fits well with my Weber grill and when it works, it works really well.

But what I've found is if the ambient temperature rises somewhere above 87 or so degrees Fahrenheit, that's when the Bluetooth connection starts failing. The device randomly disconnects from the app and starts blinking. Sometimes it will reconnect after a little bit on its own. Many times it won't. Turning it off and back on will sometimes get it to reconnect.

I've been able to test my theory by cooling it down with an ice pack when it won't hold a stable connection. It indeed becomes stable and works properly from then on.

So, buyer beware. This product seems to have a design defect. If you are in a cooler climate and/or don't mind keeping an icepack on it when the temperature heats up, you'll love it. Otherwise, you might want to give it a pass.

Amazon Customer: It was a father's day gift for my husband. We made ribeye steaks the first try and they were done to perfection! I mean PERFECTION! Value for $$ is always a personal opinion, I value a good steak! And this made a GREAT steak!
Hooked up pretty easy, set up on both iPhone and android. Will be trying it out on a beer can chicken next!!

Michael: i use this for my webber kettle charcoal grill. i made a little stand made out of aluminum to hold it. blue tooth range is ok. suffers if you are farther than 15 feet away or 10 feet through a wall.
