capo: I’m favorably impressed with Vocolinc. Reasonably priced, well designed, easy to install and configure and more reliable than some of the other brands I’ve tried. I have a set of these door/window sensors installed in a somewhat remote location - I’d previously used another brand that would periodically lose connectivity and need to be reset. Vocolinc has had no such issues. That’s the kind of service we all like - they just WORK. My only complaint (about these, as well as most other devices and brands of this type) is the double-sided tape installation. I’d prefer some other method. Removing or moving these devices either takes a chunk of paint or leaves a patch of old tape.

Roger: These are super simple to use and they Just Work with Apple Home. I'd recommend them, and would buy more.

If your Home hub is far away, or there are many walls between it and these door sensors, you may occasionally see the sensor "updating" or "not responding" in your Home app.

That happened for me when I had the Apple TV upstairs in a bedroom while I was initially setting up Home. Since I moved the Apple TV downstairs (where all my VOCOlinc door sensors are) they're always correctly reporting.

mgola: Update: after several years of using these, I’m going to back off the rating as despite being BLE, they do not appear to be energy efficient—or the watch battery these require are simply not energy dense enough. In other words, you will be changing the batteries on these sensors abou 3-4x the times you would with, say, and a competitors Door product. Adds up and negates any front-end savings.

I bought one of these to make sure the kids were closing the freezer door after pilfering popsicles, and the price point seemed more appropriate than the Eve contact sensors I’ve been using. I was so impressed with the size and functionality—especially at a significantly lower price point—that I quickly purchased three more sets for the remaining external doors on my house that weren’t suited for the less-svelte Eve Door.

Remember that these BLE (Bluetooth slow Energy) work well if you have them in relatively proximity to a HomeKit hub such as a HomePod or AppleTV. I have many of these devices sprinkled across my home; your mileage may vary.

The only criticism I have is that accessing the battery on these devices requires you to remove them...

Esteban Urdaneta: Product is nicely built. Had no issues pairing to my HomeKit hub on the home app. The adhesive and connectivity of the device could improve. Right after I installed the device it felt off (I made sure the surface of my door was clear before installing) in addition to this I have had some issues where I open the door and my automations don’t get triggered or take a couple of seconds to react. My HomePod (the home hub) is right across the device so I doubt is a range problem. This is solved by opening and closing the door again, which gets to trigger the action one more time. Other than that it is a pretty solid device and I will recommend to anybody!
