I installed a propane fire log set for our fireplace and ordered this detector to keep us safe. It warned me several times as I had issues hooking up the fire logs. I will continue to use this detector along with a carbon monoxide detector now that the fire log set is working well.

I installed at it at ceiling level in kitchen just before a new gas range was installed. The professional who installed my stove's gas line let a little gas leak while installing the stove and the alarm went off fairly quickly. It was fairly loud, loud enough for me to easily hear in another room although I may not have heard it if downstairs in the basement. I'm pleased with it so far but only installed for a week or so now.

I loved the fact that the unit was smaller. Most of the ones you see are big and ugly. This guy is just right. Installation. Can you plug in a cord? Thats all there is too it, and there is no cord: simply fold out the prongs and plug it in. May take you 3 seconds. Worth the peace of mind.
