BUZZKILLJRJRBUZZKILLJRJR: I haven't had this knife very long but already have fallen in love with it. You can ask for in a classic style of Swiss army knife but with a much larger blade more capable and a very large saw for its size. If this isn't your primary it should be in every backpackers or Bushcrafters pocket and or bag/pack. I wouldn't recommend batoning this through wood that's not what it's for but in a sticky situation or an emergency this is more than capable knife and the quality of swiss army knife had been legendary over the years.

Pros. I have big hands, so size is great . Weight is almost Buck 110 territory, Ill get a suitable belt sheath, I don't care. I carried Cold Steel for decades. More functional than a 110 in the outdoors for more things you may need when camping. Big saw, HOOYAH! No pretty shiny scales to scratch up in your pocket

Cons..blade is not completely sharpened all the way to the ricasso. I assume this is a safety feature for those who aren't aware they have digits. It will sharpen out over time anyway. I prefer scissors and a small blade on SAKs but hey that's what a Fieldmaster is for. I wouldn't baton with it, but I don't baton folders to begin with . Ill watch a couple Felix Immler videos and put a straight pin under the corkscrew , and get the micro screwdriver when I get a sheath, after my evaluation is done So basically I gave it such high praise because its a Vic, does what it says it'll do, and the stuff that lacks I will "mod up" . Great knife, great service and delivery time. $52 isn't too much to ask for this monster. I will edit and or return in 30 days if a problem arises, but I doubt it

K. S.K. S.: I bought two of these - on for myself, and one for a gift. And both had the same problem: the can opener and the awl tools were impossible to open without breaking your nails or using another tool.
Lubricating and repeatedly opening/closing these tools for hundreds of times to "break them in" did not help.
Eventually I was able to fix the issue by slightly prying the slot that holds those tools using the blade of another Swiss Army knife (see the picture).
Seems like a quality control and manufacturing issue...
Another unpleasant discovery was that the bottle opener / large screwdriver tool does not lock at 90° - a feature I became accustomed to.
However, this is compensated by a nice feature - which is surprisingly not documented in the user manual - the screwdriver, when fully open, firmly locks if pressed firmly - so that it can not accidentally fold and hurt your fingers.

Charlie D: I have long been a fan of S.A.K. however, I have XXL hands so normally carry a fixed blade too when out in the woods. Will probably continue this practice anyway, however, the SwissChamp I normally carry will be replaced with this one. The Champ will still ride in my vehicle, but not my backpack. I don't have to worry about slipping and slicing my finger with this RangerGrip! It's big enough, contoured just right and I like the way they put some ridging on the back of the "one handed opening" piece on the blade. This is really noticeable when wearing gloves. More control.

This knife has a bigger blade, and a really useful shape that locks in place - something I appreciate a lot. Furthermore, this is a saw that is still the legendary Swiss Army Knife Saw yet it is appreciably longer than the one on regular sized S.A.K. knives. This translates to larger pieces that one can effectively cut with it. The wife is laughing at me sawing away at bushes and small tree limbs in the back yard that I would normally get the saws-all out to handle. It's slower, true, but cutting through them so effectively with this knife is just a lot of fun.

S.A.K. still has the best can opener...
