Victorinox Explorer Multi-Tool Pocket Knife with Genuine Leather Pouch

bansko: I really like the fact that the case is real leather. I figured it would be vinyl, but it is the real deal (albeit thin leather affixed to a firmer backing). I don't care if the magnifying glass is plastic, as long as it works. The plastic magnifier on my previous Explorer had a bad habit of popping out at times though. Let's hope this one fares better. This is my third Explorer, the first two being confiscated by airport security when I forgot to put them in my checked luggage. Obviously, I like these. The Explorer is the perfect knife for travellers. I use it for camping too.

docdeee99: This item is something similar to what I've had the past 60 years, the airports have twice before confiscated it as I packed it in my hand baggage absentmindedly and TSA/Security confiscated them.

CUSTOMER: The ONLY thing that breaks down is the metal strip that makes the scissors pop open again every time you use them. It has always happened thru the years. They haven't been able to avoid that (till this last one ,at least). I LOVE the surprisingly powerful magnifying glass.! Think it is plastic so thru time may start to get scratches. Besides that all the rest is EXCELLENT! Thru time I have had more than one model, but have stayed ONLY with this model because of the magnifying glass. I LOVE to see what my eyes can't see well!

Jason B.: Update: The original knife was replaced and the magnifying glass fell out again after a couple months and never used the case again.

Recently sent the knife into Victorinox and the knife was replaced again, however the magnifying glass appears as if it may have been updated and affixed to the frame differently. Time will tell. The case is more suited and perfectly sized for a Swiss Champ, not this knife. Victorinox warranty service is top notch FYI.

The included case is completely useless as the snap won’t stay closed. Literally the very first time I opened the magnifying glass the magnifying part fell out of the frame. Total junk. Stay away from these knives with the useless magnifying glass.

KELLY SIMMONS: Bought my first Explorer as a reward to myself years ago for getting my first job, and have been pleased with these ever since. The selection of tools is perfect for all the tasks I need to get done every day, The blades and tools never became loose and hold up to every punishment I put it through, as long as it gets a little oil from time to time. All tools pull out and fold back with a confident "snap" even after several years of use. My only con is that it is a bit bulkier than most Swiss Army knives, sitting on the fence between being a true pocket knife and a pocket 'tool' requiring an external pouch, but it's still my favorite carry knife, and has never been uncomfortable in the 10-plus years I've carried one. I've bought three more since the first one, but only because they were either put down absent-mindedly and taken by someone else, or lost during the many moves I've made during my career...never to replace it due to it getting old or worn out. An amazing piece of work, and gets plenty of knowing smiles when someone needs to borrow it for a task.

Sunny 1: This was a gift I gave for a late Christmas. Unsure as yet as to how the person likes this Swiss Army Knife. To me, it was a "happy medium", not too little on the knife side, & not too overbearing or bold having more than a person could ever possibly use. I recalled having a happy medium Swiss Army Knife I could carry in my pocket anytime, anywhere. Being a single parent (after divorce) with two sons gave me the ability to have a not too dangerous knife, yet a small knife, screwdriver, both Phillips and regular, corkscrew, magnifying glass, so much more on this "perfect for anyone over 18 years could carry" in their jacket pocket. Believe there is a tool on this also to assist with flat tires. I know these Swiss Army Knives came in really handy on more than one occasion, helped me out with a frozen water pipe on one ski trip to the mountains, (arrived after dark, pipes were shut off, so not to freeze & burst, cabin rental, pipes had to be turned on for our use for weekend stay, a good small flashlight, & this Swiss Army Knife were extremely helpful, it was all I needed to get things done"). Not too much, not too least..
