VIAIR 300P Portable Air Compressor Kit - Perfect for Home or On-the-Go Tire Inflation

ScottScott: Took a trip this weekend to big bear off-road on the trails of the north and south side of the lake and got to use the compressor for the first time. After getting on the trail I aired down to 20 lbs with my ARB tool. When I went to air up the pump was extremely easy to connect to my battery and reached all 4 ties with n o issues. The coil hose was long enough and did not put any tension or pull the pump over. When I hooked up the valve it read 20 lbs just as I had left it. I filled each one to 45 lbs and the gauge was perfectly accurate after double checking with a separate gauge. The pump was EXTREMELY quite which was nice not having a tiny pump screaming in your ear.

I couldn't be happier with it and would 100% recommend. 5 STARS!!

Chuck: I have a 400p for my truck that has worked well for years so I bout the 300p for my off road rig because I know Viair is a quality product that lasts and works well.

Wayne Vaughan: Excellent product. Great for keeping the travel trailer tires up as well as the tow vehicle. Portable and light weight. It suggests to have the vehicle running that you attach the clips to. I had to turn my truck so it was nose to nose with the trailer. I'll be getting a longer air hose for it as my trailer is 32'. It was delivered in its original box with was not taped shut. All was there though.

Deb V.: I was wanting a better quality tire inflator to carry in my Travel Trailer. It had to easily inflate my trailer tires that are rated for 80psig. I read over the reviews of several inflators and decided on the 300P. Put it to the test yesterday. I am very pleased. Had no problem handling the 80psi tires. Pumped one that was at 70 psi up to 80 in about 65 seconds. The battery clips are plenty large enough to grab onto a battery post connector. My trailer batteries are located front underside of my 34 foot 5th wheel center compartment.
With electric wire and coil air hose, I reached tires with no excessive stretching. The air hose to valve stem clamp is very good and tight. No air loss and would be much easier than the screw on fittings others come with. This unit also has the "Air release" feature to let out excess pressure. The air gauge is a good quality. The pump is much quieter than I thought it would be. Comes with a very good carrying bag that has room to include any special fittings you may need. Chachi69: PROS: Filled each of the 17" tires on my MINI from 30psi to 40psi in about 10 seconds. Acceptable noise level. Feels solid.

CONS: Probably overkill for a small car or sedan. No preset pressure settings. Powered by dual battery clamps only, which limits its versatility. Instructions were text only — diagrams would have been helpful.

I grew tired of messing with temperamental coin-operated air pumps at gas stations, and forget about free air pumps in Washington, DC so, I started researching personal use air compressors. The reviews on Amazon were not promising. Aside from the obviously fake 5-star reviews, every portable compressor under $100 had 1-star reviews in the 10% or higher range, which is a red flag for me. Common complaints seemed to be overheating, faulty pressure settings, and generally short lifespans.

I've only used the VIAIR 300P Portable Compressor once to top off all four of the tires on my MINI, but it worked flawlessly and really quickly: 10 seconds per tire to go from 30 to 40 psi. I didn't touch the heatsink but I don't think it had a chance to get very hot.

There is no way to preset the compressor to a certain PSI...

Chris H.: I regularly go off-roading in California's deserts and wanted a reliable way to add pressure to my tires when returning to the pavement, and to reinflate tires after a repair. I purchased this compressor in 2010 after my cheap, barely adequate $25 "tire inflator" from a department store chain stopped working. I have had zero problems with my Viair.

Uses:

In addition to the uses above, I use the compressor every couple of weeks to top up one of my tires that has a slow leak. I just used it to quickly top up the tires on my wife's van. I have also used it to inflate my kid's wading pool via an extra attachment that came with our bicycle pump.

Pros:
Well made and reliable
Easy to connect to the red battery terminal and ground via the alligator clips
Positive latching on to the tire stem
Pretty fast inflating of even large tires
Consistent readings from the integral tire gauge
Packs up into a relatively small package that can stay in any vehicle 24/7
Carrying case is handy and makes storage easy

Cons:
Gets warm after a couple of tires and needs to cool off before packing it up
