CustAct: To be fair, I’m returning these because they weren’t the right size for my hybrid camper queen beds. I am ordering the next size up though.
These are light but durable, and I would have kept them if they were the right size.

Amazon Customer: Have an infrared thermometer, which measured the temperature of the ceiling inside of my camp trailer, underneath where two of these tarps are placed on the roof, and the area on the ceiling where no tarp exist on the roof.

The ceiling temperature underneath the roof where the tarps were placed was exactly the surrounding air temperature, the ceiling with no tarp was vastly hotter, 10 to 15 degrees hotter. So ordered more to cover the entire roof

So great job keeping the heat out, however, there is a video which shows the tarp not holding up in strong winds, so modified the tarp.

Bought some heavy weed eater line and wrapped it around the outer edge of the tarp and covered with Gorilla tape, then did a line across the middle to divide the longest length, added two grommets

Used some cheap rope from the Dollar Store to tie down

This whole modification adds about $7 and so far, has taken 35 mph wind gust and is holding up very well

The reflective ability of the tarps are worth the cost in the reduced heat, the modification looks like it will allow them to last the summer, if not longer

Ron Sutton: This is an excellent product! Space blankets within first aid kits are generally very thin and not so durable. This is a double skinned, heavy duty item, that should last for years

Intra Voxel: Accidentally ordered two, but the quality is such that I am inclined to keep both. One now lives in the car boot - I would say it is quite heavy and bulky for a solo hiker/camper to carry, but it appears robust enough for a groundsheet or high-vis tarp.

Anon. : These are VASTLY sturdier (and quieter) than the tiny tissue thin survival blankets. I used to use one as a tent floor for winter camping-the reflection of my candle lanterns was super magnified-warmer and just made long winter nights better. I also used it in the evenings as a lean to towards campfires- the heat it reflects to your back is really amazing! To make this truly amazing- TWO more grommets-one at the middle of each of the narrow sides; and add FOUR grommets along the long sides, evenly spaced between the corner grommets. Or better yet, make a Double size one with grommets every 18" or 20" to use as a lean to-one part for the floor, one panel for the slanted "roof"! Now that would be a cozy fireside shelter! Not applicable in my outings, but also great for hot desert survival (shiny side toward sun).

mike: I've been backpacking in the mountains and deserts of the western United States for over 45 years. For 18 of those summers, I worked as a survival instructor and backcountry guide. This is the best combination thermal blanket/tarp I've found so far.
However, you need to use a little common sense and not expect magic out of it or any other space blanket. None of them are going to be a "stand-alone" sleeping bag that is going to keep you warm if it is even the least bit cold. On top of that, most of them do NOT breathe. And I can promise you that you're going to wake up damp if you wrap yourself in one.
The UTOOL Ultra Emergency Blanket is no different. It too is not magic but it is built tough enough to make a great ground cloth, light enough to carry on your pack and the reflective side holds the heat better than most IF, .... you wrap it around your sleeping bag.
Although I've never done it, the tarp is large enough and waterproof so you should be able to build several different types of one-man shelters with it if you had to. But once again, it isn't magic and it will not replace a good tent.
I would think that it would also make a decent...

Bluethumb: Fifty years ago my pastor included a space blanket on a backpacking retreat in the Smokey mountains. It was wise, saving over a pound. It kept him warm. I was impressed. I tried it myself while I was stationed in Turkey about 35 years ago and it kept me warm also. Testing it personally I thought it was too fragile plus I sounded like I was in a snack chip bag every time I moved in the slightest. I ordered this one, It's as tough as a tarp and keeps me warm. I folded and refolded this one enough to know it's much tougher than the originals. This one is different. It's not silent but the toughest lining in this line solves the fragile mylar and goes a ways to mute my crackling objection. I am very happy with the treatment in this model.
