Tetsu Noguchi:
This is basically a somewhat more durable version of a single layer mylar blanket. This survival blanket is considerably more durable, tear resistent, and useful. At about 2/3 of a lb, it is heavier than a single layer mylar, but well worth the weight.
I use it as a ground sheet under the tent, as a picnic blanket, as a seat during hikes and as a rain tarp for shade. With so much multi-use flexibility, this is one of my must have backpacking items and has been for about a decade

Amazon Customer: Meow! I bought this out of guilt and worry that my perfectly fine feral cats might get too cold when the temperature dropped down into single digits this past winter. I used it as an outer layer over their most likely already warm and definitely cozy fort. Maybe it was the heat radiating off this extra layer of protection or maybe it was spending 11 dollars to feel I had done all I could but I swear right after adding on this layer I felt warm and my guilt melted into a puddle right there on the garage floor. The cats had no complaints, they settled right, promptly ignored me and curled up for a nap. Lucky for them the power did not go out because I suspect I would have found I could get over my guilty conscience rather quickly and confiscate it for my own warmth! It is well made, sturdy, looks brand new after several months of use and is now part of my emergency kit. I also plan to use it at the beach with some tent stakes to hold it down (the corners are reinforced and have good quality grommets). It would be great as a wind shield, ground cover, extra warmth layer or tent cover for camping as well. I plan to buy a couple more before winter!

Chris: I hoped that these would allow tent camping in sub freezing temperatures. That prospect was previously pretty dicey (especially if my wife was along) even with a propane heater. The heat just dissipates too quickly and doesn't filter down to the ground where you are sleeping no matter how long/high you run it. So I ordered 3 to give it a try and waited for a cold night in the low 20's. I set up the tent, clamped the blankets to it, threw in a heater and an air mattress and jumped in. As soon as I turned on the heater I knew that this was going to work well. It immediately started reflecting heat onto my face and didn't just gather at the top before exiting. After getting the chill out from having the door open I had to turn the heat down to medium and then low because I was starting to sweat. Before this experiment, anything at or colder than 35 usually required running the heater all night on high just to stay comfortable. The 20's were not really doable or would at the very least not allow you to be outside of the sleeping bag in the tent. Now it will definitely be possible and seemingly pretty easy to stay warm. On top of reflecting the heat extraordinarily...

megpie: Solid and sturdy, performed well. I used it to actually reflect the sun off of my tent and it kept the temperature down. Will be great to have for outdoor trips.

James Ducker: Good tarp overall, decent thickness and the reflective side works brilliantly for keeping a tent or car dark and cool while camping. The only problem is the construction quality, after only one night of use using bungee cords under light tension the corner grommets were ripping out. By the second night all 4 bottom corners (2 tarps) had lost their grommets and were being held by only the nylon reinforcement around the edge. Had there been any serious wind or a need to keep real tension on the tarp the corners would certainly have ripped out entirely. I was hoping these would be reusable and last me at least a few camping/festival trips but due to this they're only really viable for single uses.

Myra E: I bought and use this as a floor saver in my tent! Its great! More durable than I thought it would be. I have two dogs, 50 and 60 lbs. When one stepped off their sleeping bag and stretched and scratched her nails across it I was lunging forward from my sleeping bag to get her to stop and she was done and it didn't tear at all! I just petted her! It seems to help insulate my tent in colder weather too. It was definitely much warmer in the tent than outside the next morning. Because of the dogs tracking dirt and leaves in this makes mini wisk broom sweeping a breeze or you could go so far as to take it out and shake it out and put it back in. I highly recommend it for this floor saver use. It folds pretty small for storage too. And it isn't too crinkly sounding as a floor either. I'm very pleased with my purchase and hey I guess I have it for an emergency too!
