PallaPBPallaPB: Unbelievably GOOD, like the image says. So many invaluable lessons, so simply delivered. If you're starting out and need some direction, this book can help. If you've been a designer for a while, and need a fresh perspective, this will give you that. Love it! ❤️

NikNik: Got it in great condition and I must say if there's one thing to absolutely admire about a book on design, is the way it tells the story behind those designs. This book is filled with them. Every page you turn really leads your mind on a creative journey flowing with new ideas and possibilities, making you re-think your own approaches toward design in a wonderful and uplifting way. It's quite the read and one you can actually enjoy. Just don't rush through it ;)

Charlotte Streeter: As expected from a designer it’s well laid out, uses a good ratio of words to images, and the words are well selected and thought out. He appears to have given many presentations in his life of his work to clients and has used every one of those experiences to his advantage in presenting this book.
I wasn’t sure when I was buying it what it contains, with “how to’s” being the clue, but each section is a different project he worked on with different problems and solutions. Only one page dedicated to explaining the problem and solution and the others showing spreads of the graphics and small text descriptions for each image. I can’t say I love them all, but most are delightful and even those that aren't are thought provoking. I ended up reading it within the day I started it and it was worth every penny.

Gustavo meyer: The book is a sequence of imagens of the pages from the original size of the book. Not optimized for kindle or cellphone, just impossible to read.
O livro é uma sequência de imagens das páginas do livro original, que é quadrado. Não é otimizado para kindle e impossível de ler, tanto no celular quanto no kindle.

Jordan: I was not expecting the book to be so big! The book certainly justifies the price as everything is beautifully printed on each of the pages.

I originally heard about this book from the the Podcast: 99% Invisible (I guess their marketing strategy worked). It is a worthwhile book to have in your coffee table as your guests get flip through it and dabble into some of Michael's thought processes for each particular design.

Great for anyone interested in going into marketing.

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: Originally bought for myself on kindle, loved it so much I asked for the hardback for my birthday. The book's content is phenomenal, the kindle version could be a little easier to read but perhaps that's just on my device. Also, would love to see the quality of the paperback cover updated -- I have to handle this book with so much care so as not to tear or dirty the cover. I understand the cover is removable, but it's so lovely and I prefer it on. One last constructive criticism: I love tiny type just as much as the next designer, but I'm 25 and can barely read those image captions. Overall, have to thank Michael Bierut for sharing so much, couldn't ask for a better peek into his process...more than a peek, really. Very transparent and educational. I'll cherish this one for a long time.

Janine Lazur: I'm a professional graphic designer and read this cover-to-cover. An impressive body of work, well-explained and inspiring in its down-to-earth logic. No arty BS, just problem and solution. Or problem, attempted solution, attempted solution, solution. Hearing a little about the process is part of what makes it inspiring. Pages 18-35 are spreads from his sketchbooks. They're interesting in the beginning but worth looking at again after you've made your way through the book and know the finished projects by then. Also, very cleverly shown at full size within the bigger book isolated against a black background to make them feel like a book within a book.

Glenn Sakamoto: When I first learned of this book, I knew I had to pre-order it. Michael Beirut is one of the most exciting designers of the past few decades (and one of my favorite partners in the NY Pentagram office). His engaging and approachable personality easily becomes visible in his work.

Every chapter is wonderfully written and lushly illustrated with his process and the final solution. The chapter "How to be a graphic designer in the middle of nowhere" literally gave me chills as his introduction to design and his growth as an artist was similar to mine.

Thank you and bravo, Mr. Bierut for creating easily my new favorite book and quite possibly the BEST book on graphic design. Highly recommended.
