AlanH: You wouldn't use these lights for an entire room, or maybe not even a larger closet. That said, they work very well considering the price, and light up a small area enough to see. Just don't expect these to perform like a regular light.

bluebirdchic15: Updated: I decided to give the lights a try again after the sellers sent me an email apologizing for my bad experiences with their product. I then read a lot of the reviews posted about these lights, and realized that the amount of lighting that hits them really makes a difference to whether or not the lights themselves work well. The darker it is, the more sensitive to movement they are, the better they work. The seller asked that if I wanted to, I could return the products and they'd send me new ones as replacements to give them another try. I decided I would use the ones I still had, that I'd had problems with before, and test them out for a few weeks before I returned them. (I wondered if maybe it was user error or something).
The one I felt works best is still in my bedroom, and still works perfectly. Turns on with movement once it's night time and we turn off our bedside lamps. Stays on long enough for us to get to bed.
The second light was one that had given me issues, the one I had placed in the closet. I noticed that it didn't turn on as often when it was day time. To get to my closet I have to go through the bathroom, and my bathroom has windows (with blinds, but...

M: Work great, very reliable and consistent. I have them set up along a staircase. Work well when its semi-dark, they are almost a bit bright in the middle of the night though. Adding some sort of red or simple diffuse gel to put over it would likely solve that issue.

SeattleBookMamaSeattleBookMama: My kids tell me that these stick-on lights have been around for a long time; I was slow on the uptake, but when I saw them advertised in a lightning deal I swooped in and bought them. We recently had our floors redone, and the man at the flooring store that assisted me said the wood and the carpet should be the same color so the transition would not be so obvious when we go from one room to another. That sounded right. Only when it was already installed did I see the problem: with the lights out, I cannot see where one ends and the other begins, and this is a dangerous situation when you're heading down the stairs at night. I don't like to turn on the overhead lights, partly because they're bright and partly because with the bedroom door ajar, I don't want the light to wake the mister. I have seldom seen the right product pop up at exactly the right time. I installed one of these little hummers on the wall just above the stairs--see photo--and the motion sensor works like a charm. It's a good amount of light for safety without being bright enough to wake a sleepy person wide awake.

jp: These work perfectly for those areas where you haven't got electricity but need to see what you're doing. I have one in a small funky hallway where we need to keep the doors closed, but no one wants to do it because you end up in pitch black. Now, no problem: you open the door and the light goes on. You close the door and open the other, and the light turns off a few seconds later. It doesn't stay on too long either after you stop moving, and it doesn't turn on when the room is already light. Just the right amount of time.

The reason I gave it four stars instead of five: 1) there's two-way tape for you to stick it on somewhere, which is great, but it seems pretty likely that I'll have to pull it off to change a battery. Once they figure out a reasonable way to change the battery, I'll give it five stars. A slightly less problematic issue is that id doesn't have quite the reach that it says it does. Not a huge issue, because you can usually just wave your hands. But the hallway that I put it in is about 6 or 7 ft long. The light is no more than 6 ft in any direction.
